2 My Water Poem by: Rachel Isadora I love you wide like earth’s
great tide with a hug of oceans held inside

3 So much water! There is 97% saltwater on earth. There is 3% of fresh water on earth. Two thirds of earth is covered by water. I think this is a lot of water around the whole entire world.

4 . How much water do we use? They need 5 gallons\20liters of water each day. The average person in the United States of America uses 151 gallons of water each day.

5 Daily Water Usage The rest of the world uses about 5 gallons a day.
Americans use gallons of water a day

6 Why shouldn’t we waste water?
Even though earth has a lot of fresh water not all of it is clean. One out of three percent of water is fresh is ready for people to drink. It does not compare because the number is a very small amount. About 1 billion people do not have access to clean drinking water. It is difficult for many people find clean drinking water because they may not be able to afford it because some people may not have enough money. One tenth of the global disease burden could be prevented. Every 20 seconds a child who has a disease caused by drinking dirty water dies. Since there is only 1% of water for people ready to drink, we should be careful not to waste it.

7 My ideas of how to save water
Turn off the faucet when you brush your teeth until you are ready to rinse. Try to take a 5 minute shower instead of a 15 or 20 minute shower. Do not water your plants when it is raining outside. Wash a car with a sponge and bucket of water instead of using a hose. Tell your parents if your toilet has a leak if you don’t you are wasting plenty of water. Instead of using a hose to water plants use a watering can. There is only 1% of water for people ready to drink the rest is salt water. Click here to see my Excel project.

8 What I Learned About Water
From this research, I have learned many things but the main thing I will never forget is we should be happy we have fresh water because over a billion people do not have access to clean drinking water. I was surprised that any child that has water disease can die in just 20 seconds. I use water wisely I always tell my parents if there is a leaking toilet. I think in my opinion I would be miserable without access to clean drinking water. That would be like bathing and drinking mud mixed with water all the time!!! I would be willing to give up taking three baths a week. Instead, I would take only one bath a week.
