FAQ – Omnitest® 3 Which sort of blood has to be used?
What is the hematocrit range? Could the system be used for neonates? Why is the result different from a competitor device? Why could an Omnitest® 3 reading be higher than the laboratory test? Which medication affects the measurement? How can the meter be tested? How to test the display function? Can the meter be used with other test strips? Could the test strip be reused? What are the target results for control solution? What to do in case the control measurement is outside the range? Can the meter be calibrated with control solution? Who has to do the control solution test and when has it to be done? How to transfer data to a PC? Where can I get further information? Any further questions you receive? B. Braun Melsungen AG 2

FAQ – Omnitest® 3 Which sort of blood has to be used?
Fresh capillary whole blood What is the hematocrit range? 20 – 60 % within 10 – 150 mg/dL / 0.6 – 8.3 mmol/L 30 – 55 % within 150 – 600 mg/dL / 8.3 – 33.3 mmol/L Could the system be used for neonates? No, the hematocrit of neonates fluctuates from 35 to 68% and is therefore sometimes out of range. Why is the result different from a competitor device? Different calibration (plasma or whole blood) General inaccuracy of the system Different sample (time, source, treatment) Why could an Omnitest® 3 reading be higher than the laboratory test? see also 3. Venous sample blood for lab will lead to lower values on lab device. B. Braun Melsungen AG 3

FAQ – Omnitest® 3 Which medication affects the measurement?
No effect in case of normal therapeutic concentrations. See also IFU test strips How can the meter be tested? Check strip Control solution Comparison against laboratory device How to test the display function? When inserting battery When inserting test strip Can the meter be used with other test strips? No, only Omnitest® 3 test strips have to be used. Could the test strip be reused? No, test strips are single use products. B. Braun Melsungen AG 4

FAQ – Omnitest® 3 What are the target results for control solution?
Target results are written on the test strip vial label What to do in case the control measurement is outside the range? Repeat measurement Try with new control solution Exchange test strips Can the meter be calibrated with control solution? No, the control solution is only for testing the device. Who has to do the control solution test and when has it to be done? To learn the system In case of unexpected results For quality control in professional use B. Braun Melsungen AG 5
