Keuji Product Overview
2
What is Keuji? Keuji is a computational knowledge engine that serves as your own personal study buddy. Helps you understand the fundamentals of any topic. Awake 24 hours of the day. Tailors himself to your learning style.
3
How does Keuji work? Step 1: Give Keuji source material
Simply hand Keuji your study material so that he can understand exactly what you want to learn. Anything goes! You can give him: Plain Text PDFs URLs to Web Articles PowerPoints Videos Audio File Excel Spreadsheet Images of notes and more!
4
How does Keuji work? What if I don't have any source material?
No problem! Simply submit a query and Keuji will use resources provided by other users to help you learn. Some examples of a query might be: Marvel Heroes Star Wars but don’t include the prequels Steve Jobs and Bill Gates AND, BUT, OR, and NOT logic are used to query dynamic subjects.
5
How does Keuji work? Step 2: Keuji starts crunching
Keuji converts all the media files into a plain-text representation. It then performs named entity recognition, coreferencing, textual entanglement, relational extractions, word sense disambiguation, and semantic classifications on the text… …or what us humans like to call reading.
6
How does Keuji work? Step 3: Studying with the user
After Keuji is done reading, he then provides multiple services for users to: Evaluate their knowledge on the material Display aggregated information about the material Explore alternative avenues for learning more about the material In other words, he creates a study guide for you! When the users use these services they passively improve Keuji’s reading abilities and knowledge base.
7
Keuji’s Services We are currently developing 2 primary services:
Flashcard Generation and Question Generation
8
Flashcard Generation: User Experience
The flashcard generation system is a great way for users to quickly review all the major concepts of their source material. First they select which cards they want to study… …and that’s it, off to review!
9
Flashcard Generation: Card Features
The flashcard is meant to display snappy snippets of information about the topic it covers. Currently our flashcards have these functionalities. Ability to edit anything Keuji wrote. A definition of the topic. Facts extracted from the source material Images of the topic Ability to add your own facts
10
Flashcard Generation: Future Features
There are a ton of extra features we have planned to add to the flash cards. A few examples include: Include facts extracted from other source material Include facts written by other users. Ability to group cards in classifying piles For cards related to chemistry Display physical and chemical properties of molecules/atoms, such as atomic weight, melting point etc. For cards related to medicine Break medical terminology down to it’s Latin suffixes, prefixes, etc. List synonyms for the topic. Create a Foreign Language Card We recognize the difficult words in the source material, and generate flash cards for them.
11
Question Generation The question generation is less developed front-end wise, but will be out at the beginning of fall semester.
12
Keuji Ecosystem Overview
13
The Line Keuji is a free service for all to use.
You can just bring your work, get in line, and he’ll be ready to help you out.
14
The Line: Extended However due to restricting server costs, Keuji might be very busy some days and the line might take some time.
15
Speeding up wait time If your impatient and do not wish to spend time waiting on other users there are a two things you can do to speed up your wait time. Pay for an Express Server Increase your Contribution score
16
Contribution Contribution is a score given to each user that indicates how much useful data they have contributed to the system. Essentially it’s how much the user has helped Keuji learn. A user gets contribution points simply by using the services. Users can earn extra contribution by completing puzzles and surveys that aid the system. Contribution unlocks perks such as: Being able to skip lines Upload more material Get early access to the question generator
17
The Open Sorcery is open sourced!
We are optimistic that the open source community will be a great asset to the Keuji ecosystem, and thus created the Cephalopod Architecture to make it easy for any eager developer to contribute.
18
Appended Information Pod
The Cephalopods As you can see only a limited amount of information on the topic can be inferred from the source. Thus we use outside resources to inform us about said topics, beyond the source text. With cephalopod, an open source developer can easily add their own resources to the flashcard by appending endpoints and callbacks. Effectively it acts as extensions for the flashcard, and allows the system to expand dynamically. Users have the ability to disable/enable any information pod. From Google From Source Material Appended Information Pod From user From Knowledge Base Facts that were extracted from other flashcard generations + user written facts Open Source Resource

And that’s Keuji in a Nutshell!
