4 Who tests? Students who did not pass Math and/or Reading during the May administration (including all LEP students and students taking STAAR A) Students new to Texas, from a private school or homeschool who did not test in May Students who were absent during the March/May administration

5 Who does not test and what do we do with their answer document?
If… Then ARD Decision ARDC decides a student does not take the 3rd administration VOID the answer document Parental Waiver Parent waives the student’s 3rd administration Mark “PW” on the answer document First year asylee/refugee Must have I-99 form (should have been an “O” code in initial administration)

6 Special Settings Students who are enrolled at JT Brack DAEP or Estrada will test at their home campus summer site location There are no homebound services in the summer Student at Satellites will test at that location

7 Campuses will submit the names of summer re-testers and their accommodations

8 You will log hours worked using NOVAtime
Summer CTCs You will log hours worked using NOVAtime (max 56 hours for combined sites and max 32 at Satellite)

9 You will log hours worked using NOVAtime

12 Test Versions & Form Numbers
STAAR STAAR A and L STAAR Spanish (5th only) There are no form numbers on re-test booklets

13 Test Administrator Manuals
Cluster campuses should have left manuals. Order more from the Testing Office if needed.

14 Time Limit Policies & Procedures
Each student is allowed four hours to complete the test Time starts after the test administrator has read all of the directions and tells students: “…you may begin” or “You may now put on your headphones” Test administrators must communicate orally or in writing the amount of time left to test (one hour intervals then smaller increments) Students with Extended Time as an accommodation must start testing as soon as possible Late students must test if there is enough time left in the school day Breaks are allowed but the clock does not stop Time stops only for: Meals Emergencies Consolidation Nurse breaks

15 Allowable Procedures & Materials
The following test procedures and materials are NOT accommodations. They may be provided based on individual student need. It is not necessary to indicate the use of these on a student answer document. Signing or translating test administration directions Reading aloud or signing the writing prompt upon request Minimize distractions Small group or individual administrations Remind students to stay on task Scratch paper (must be collected) Colored overlays Blank place markers Highlighters Page 13 Manual Page O-13DCCM

16 CTC Responsibilities You are the contact person for all test-related communications at your campus You are responsible for the planning, training and execution of testing You are required to read and be familiar with all manuals You are responsible for test security of materials You must supervise and actively monitor testing You must report testing irregularities and violations immediately to the DTC You are responsible for supervising the verification of precoded test materials by campus personnel You are responsible for the accounting of all test material and for the accurate completion of all answer documents

17 CTC Responsibilities Attend test coordinator trainings and train campus test administrators Receive, manage and secure testing materials Prepare answer documents for testing, this includes checking that the student’s data is current Coordinate all campus testing logistics Establish and monitor testing procedures to ensure test security Verify appropriate score codes, test taken information codes, testing accommodations codes, and all other coding is correct on answer documents Prepare and return all testing materials to the testing office Manage the TAMS system on the campus for online testing Prepare statements if necessary

18 Test Administrator Responsibilities
Read the Test Administrator Manual Attend training conducted by your campus test coordinator Receive secure testing materials from your campus test coordinator Observe all rules regarding test security and confidential integrity of the state testing system Read “Guide to the Test Administration Directions” prior to administering any state assessment Administer the tests in strict compliance with the directions in the Test Administrator Manual Supervise and actively monitor students during testing Do not provide any unauthorized assistance to students during testing Do not view the test, discuss the test, or score a student test either before, during, or after testing

19 Test Administrator Responsibilities
Complete answer documents in accordance with the manual Return all testing materials to the campus test coordinator (CTC) immediately after students finish testing Accurately and completely fill out all required documentation for testing Assist the CTC for on-line administrations as needed Report testing irregularities and security violations immediately to the CTC Prepare statements for submission to CTC if you are involved in a testing irregularity or test security violation

20 Test Administrator Oath
The bottom box of the oath is to be signed for individuals who are authorized to conduct a test administration that involves viewing secure state assessments to include (but not limited to) oral administrations transcribing STAAR A or L administrations

21 It’s the law! Procedures for maintaining the security and confidentiality of assessments are specified in the Test Security Supplement, the District and Campus Coordinator Manual, and in the appropriate test administration materials.

23 Accommodations Refer to the 2016 State Assessment Reference Guide for allowable accommodations, eligibility, examples/types and special instructions When training test administrators for oral administration use the Oral Administrations Manual

24 Accommodations- Oral Administration
FULL all questions and answer choices A student’s IEP/IAP may have assigned the option to “change” level of support during the test Students who are able to “change” level of support based on documentation in IEP/IAP can go back and forth Test administrator receives a test booklet (there are no form numbers on retest booklets) PART Questions, answer choices, words or phrases Students cannot change from “PART” to “ALL” Test administrator reads over the student’s shoulder Test administrators should NEVER read the reading passages. FULL and PART oral cannot be in the same testing room

25 Dictionaries Dictionaries must be available to ALL students taking STAAR Reading at 8th grade (including STAAR A) must be a ratio of 1:5 Students in 5th grade must meet eligibility criteria Standard/general dictionary English (Spanish for Spanish version test) Dictionary/thesaurus combination Electronic dictionary Bilingual dictionary ESL dictionary Picture dictionary Sign language dictionary

26 Calculators All students in 8th grade and Algebra I students must have a graphing calculator for the math test Ratio is 1 to 1 STAAR A and STAAR L test takers must be provided with a handheld graphing calculator All calculators must be “hard” cleared prior to the test and by the test administrator prior to the calculators leaving the testing room

28 Mark Accommodations on the Answer Document
GA- General Accommodations (any accommodation that is not specifically listed) BR- Braille LP- Large Print OA- Oral Administration XD- Extra Day (Type 2) LA- Linguistic Accommodations Accommodations are marked if they are assigned to the student, not if the student used them If LEP students are assigned linguistic accommodations in reading, that student will not be eligible for EXIT for this year

29 Answer Documents Test Administrators are responsible for the accurate completion of answer documents: Ensuring that students have bubbled in all answers on the back of the answer document Ensuring that the test version (language) has been indicated Ensuring that the Test booklet number and score code have been marked Ensuring accommodations have been marked if not already done so

32 Hand Grid Answer Documents
Hand grid answer documents for students who did not receive a precoded answer document Hand grid for students who are new Hand grid if an answer document was damaged Fill out and bubble in all student information Do not leave anything blank Make sure Local Student ID has preceding zeroes FILL THIS OUT!!!!

33 The Binder & Documentation Retention
Documents required to maintain for a period of five years following a test administration: signed security oaths for all testing personnel seating charts investigation and documentation of testing irregularities material control logs material inventory from vendor Use Required Documentation Checklist to build your binder (testing office will retain SSI binder) Documents required to be scanned and ed to the testing office: Training Sign In Sheets Materials Control Form Seating Charts “O” and “A” Score Code Form Rename your scan (campus-June Retest 2016) before sending to

34 Do NOT fill in Test Booklet Number for students testing online
START TIME for class is after the directions have been read STOP TIME for class is the stop time of the last student STAAR or STAAR A or L Each student should have their individual stop time indicated Student Name, ID # and Test Booklet # MUST be filled out NO Form numbers for Retest Booklets Only students who go to the nurse should have this start and stop time indicated Do NOT fill in Test Booklet Number for students testing online

35 Preparing Materials for Return
Verify that no answer documents or scratch paper have inadvertently been left in test booklets Verify that all test booklets and answer documents are accounted for (including blank answer documents) Make sure that any transcribing that is required for special testing situations has been completed and documented on the answer document Make sure the correct score code is marked on each answer document and test booklet number has been indicated Verify that student information, test taken information, and accommodations coding on answer documents is accurate

36 Return and Check In Test booklets must be face up, in numerical order with the lowest number on top of the box – largest on the bottom (you do not have to separate booklets by campus, scan to boxes in Test Hound) Answer documents must be in alphabetical order and SPEARATED by CAMPUS Ensure your counts are accurate Use separate boxes for answer documents and test booklets “O” Coded and “A” Coded answer documents on top of the bundle and under one Class ID sheet (green) VOIDS under Voided Document Identification Sheet

37 Campus & Class Identification Sheets
Each home campus must have one Campus ID sheet (pink) and at least one Class ID Sheet (green) 5th Reading 8th Reading Place one band around each bundle and label the band with the home campus name Answer Docs must be separated by home campus

38 Information must be filled out and bubbled in for each subject test
Leading zero’s required (this number should total the number that is indicated on all of the green Class ID sheet) Information must be filled out and bubbled in for each subject test Ensure accurate counts!! Place one pink sheet on top of class ID sheet (green) per home campus

39 Fill in information in items 1, 2, and 3
Leading zero’s are required No more than 100 answer sheets under a class ID sheet Ensure accurate counts!!

40 Voids You must write VOID (in pencil) on any precoded answer document that was not used VOID answer documents for any student who took STAAR A VOID answer documents if a student is a first year asylee/refugee VOID answer documents for withdrawn students VOID damaged answer documents The band should list VOIDS on the Test Subject line Fill out all information County-District Number Each home campus should have their own VOID stack
