Research-based instruction is the channel through which knowledge and skills are transmitted to students in well-designed lessons that capture students’ interest and imagination. Virtuoso teachers not only teach students, they team with the principal to provide instructional leadership.” ---Elaine K. McEwan, 2009 With this research in mind, three structures were created to ensure that all teachers are highly effective.

TEACHER SELECTION: RESPONSIBILITIES
Review approximately 1000 Teacher Candidates in the following areas: Resume Transcript Certification/Highly Qualified Status Analysis of Student Assessment Data (On-Site) Utilization of Technology (On-Site) Interview Teacher Candidates. Reach Consensus About Candidates’ Responses. Summarize Interview Results. Recommend Candidates to the Superintendent.

2. TENURE REVIEW: RESPONSIBILITIES
Review approximately 76 teachers in their 3rd year of employment. Review Principal Recommendations for Tenure Review multiple measures of student and teacher data. Make recommendations to Superintendent.

Deputy Superintendent: Facilitator Directors of Instruction Seven additional members: School Administrators Central Office Administrators Teacher Leaders

REVIEW: RESPONSIBILITIES
NON-TENURED TEACHER REVIEW: RESPONSIBILITIES Review approximately 216 teachers in their 1ST or 2nd year of employment. Review Principal Recommendations for Teacher Renewal. Review multiple measures of student and teacher data.

REVIEW: RESPONSIBILITIES
NON-TENURED TEACHER REVIEW: RESPONSIBILITIES Can be sent to the Teacher Selection Committee for additional interview If recommended for renewal, the Teacher Selection Committee would provide a written report to the Superintendent and Principal. A professional learning plan (PLP) would be developed . The PLP would address any instructional or professional support that the committee determines is necessary to improve teacher effectiveness.
