You’re going to rewrite Scenes 2 and 3 of the play ‘The Best Restaurant in the World’.
Let’s take a look at what things in the play you can change. You’re going to change the play into a funny play.

Scene 2 In the restaurant The Best Restaurant in the World — Menu The best food from around the world! Indian food Chinese food Beef curry $48 Soup noodles with dumplings $26 Chicken curry $46 Soup noodles with pork chop $23 Japanese food Italian food Sushi $24–$150 Macaroni with mushrooms $45 Crab stick salad $36 Spaghetti with meat sauce $38 Spaghetti with ham and cheese $30 ** Chef’s special — try our most popular dish — Prawn pasta ** $46 Salad Pasta Chocolate salad $32 Peanut salad $46 Macaroni with biscuits $35 Spaghetti with mango $50 Sandwiches Dessert Peach sandwich $25 Curry sandwich $37 Beef ice cream $19 Pineapple pudding $33 You can change the food and prices on the menu.

You can also change the food in the dialogue.
Scene 2 In the restaurant Mrs Tong: Here’s the menu. What would you like, Mark? Mark: I’d like some spaghetti, please. I’d like some salad, please. Mrs Tong: Which would you like, spaghetti with meat sauce or ham and cheese? Which would you like, chocolate salad or peanut salad? Mark: I’d like spaghetti with ham and cheese. I’d like peanut salad. Mr Tong: I’d like something spicy. I’d like beef curry, please. I’d like something sweet. I’d like spaghetti with mango, please. Change the taste. Mrs Tong: Erm … um … Should I have noodles with pork chop or dumplings? Erm … um … Should I have peach sandwich or curry sandwich? Mr Tong: Please choose quickly. I’m very hungry. Mark: Me too. I could eat a horse! Mrs Tong: OK! Noodles with dumplings. Let’s order now. OK! Curry sandwich. Let’s order now. You can also change the food in the dialogue. Remember to use contracted forms when writing the dialogue.

Scene 3 In the restaurant The waiter brings the food. He hits Mr Tong on the head with a tray. Mr Tong: Ouch! Waiter: Oops! Waiter exits. Mr Tong: Aargh! I need water! This curry is too spicy! (shouting) Waiter! Yuck! I need water! This spaghetti is too sweet! Waiter! Mark: (angrily) Yuck! My food is worse than Dad’s. There’s a cockroach in my spaghetti. I can’t eat this! (shouting) Waiter! Urgh! My food is worse than Dad’s. There’s a tooth in my salad. I can’t eat this! Waiter! Aargh! My sandwich is too spicy and there’s a fly in it. Waiter! Mrs Tong: (angrily) Urgh! My noodles are cold and there’s a hair in this dumpling. (shouting) Waiter! Mark: This isn’t the best restaurant in the world. Mr Tong: No, it’s the worst restaurant in the world. Mrs Tong: Let’s go. I know a better place to eat ... All: Home! Change the taste and the object found in the food. Use contractions and add ‘sound’ words.
