Live TV Streamers Subscription service with a lineup modeled after traditional TV Typically comprised of skinny bundles plus packs or more traditional cable tiers Providers include Sling TV, DirecTV Now, Playstation Vue, Hulu with Live TV, fuboTV Premier, and YouTube TV In the Des Moines DMA, Hulu TV and Playstion Vue have the local CBS available, all other feeds are national. Live TV Streamers Differentiators Sling TV now has regional sports available. DirecTV Now bundles HBO with some wireless plans. YouTube TV is available in about half of U.S. homes. Videos are capped at 30 frames per second, even though YouTube supports 60fps. Doesn’t charge extra for DVR with no storage limits. Recordings expire after 9 months and sometimes have ads. Curated Streamers Differentiators Netflix dominates in this type with their original content and studio content surpassing all other players. Amazon Video has made large gains in their original content. Available for free with Prime Membership. Crackle from Sony is a free ad-supported service that is definitely not in the same league as Netflix and Amazon. Watch could be a big player with Facebook delivering video to so many users. Studio Streamers An “owned and operated” streaming service from a particular channel (studio) that has some content not available on the cable channel. The industry has typically been skeptical of these endeavors from channels that aren’t already a niche player, such as HBO. Providers include SeeSo from NBCU, CBS All Access HIGHLY CONFIDENTIAL
