2 Why Student Government exists?
We the students of Florida Atlantic University, in order to form a Student Government that will provide effective representation in the students’ best interests, promote general welfare, ensure the continuation of self-governance, uphold the principles of the Constitution and laws of the United States and of the State of Florida, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the Florida Atlantic University Student Government. 3 Who is elected? When? Legislative General Elections are every Fall Semester Senators House of Representatives Boca Raton 61 seats Broward (Davie, Sea Tech, and Fort Lauderdale Campuses) 7 seats Northern (MacArthur and Harbor Branch Campuses) 6 seats Executive Elections are every Spring Semester Student Body President & Vice President (30 credits completed upon submission of Declaration of Candidacy) Campus Governors Boca Raton Broward Northern Florida Atlantic University Student Government. (2017). Florida Atlantic University Student Government Statutes, Chapters 300 & Fall elections occur during the 5th or 6th week of fall semester. This year, fall elections are hosted on Owl Central Tuesday, September 26 – Wednesday, September 27, 2017. Senators: There are nine senators in total. Three senators represent Boca Raton Campus. Three senators represent Broward Campuses, and three senators represent Northern Campuses. The senate meets monthly to discuss university wide student initiatives, trends, and concerns. The time commitment is 3-5 hours per week. House of Representatives: There are three Houses of Representatives. Each House exists per “campus grouping”. There is one House located in Boca Raton, one House in Davie representing Broward Campuses, and one House in Jupiter representing Northern Campuses. House membership consists of five at-large seats plus one seat for every 500 students enrolled within each campus grouping. Boca Raton enrollment is 28, medical students as of yesterday. This means there are 61 seats in the Boca Raton House of Representatives. Broward enrollment is 1,383 students as of yesterday. This means there are seven seats in the Broward House of Representatives. Northern enrollment is 708 students as of yesterday. This means there are six seats in the Northern House of Representatives.

5 Who is eligible to serve in Senate and Houses of Representatives?
