Information Session: Application for Semester 1/2 outbound exchange

3 Why Student Exchange? Broaden your global outlook
Explore and develop your potentials Increase your competitiveness for career development while fulfilling the academic requirements of your degrees at PolyU Credit bearing exchange offers you study at abroad for one semester. NO additional tuition fee is required for the exchange.  You only need to pay your current PolyU tuition Financial assistance is provided

4 What is expected from you?
Be a good SHTM and PolyU ambassador Help to promote exchange program at PolyU at the host institutions Share your exchange experience with fellow students Be a buddy and host for in-bound exchange students

5 When can I go on exchange?
Year 3 Semester 1 or Semester 2

SHTM’s partners offering hospitality and tourism related programmes About 40 students each semester will be nominated for outbound exchange

7 SHTM Exchange Application for 2017-18 Sem 1/2 Exchange Deadline –9 Jan 2017 noon
All applications and relevant documents should be submitted to me via General Office. Group interviews will be scheduled from Jan 2017

8 Outbound Exchange Process exchange application: Selection interviews:

16 Financial Assistance You can receive a range of financial assistance via PolyU International Student Exchange Sponsorship and Hardship Fund programme to support your living costs during exchange studies overseas Such funding will be offered to all eligible applicants and the amount varies across programmes and institutions SHTM also provides additional Hardship Fund for students with financial needs

19 What do I need to do now?

20 Review the BSc program document and think about your Major (Hotel Management or Tourism Management)

21 Check the credit requirements for graduation
Plan to complete all the GUR, CAR, and Service learning courses in Year 1 and 2 Decide your mode of WIE (Block or Part-time)

22 Decide whether you will take Honors Thesis or Capstone subjects.
Consider which Career Track Option you would like to opt for. Make sure you can fulfill the required pre-requisite courses needed for the Career Track Option subjects, Honors Thesis ,Capstone Subjects before you start your final year of study. If you plan to go on exchange, it is not possible for you to do a minor
