I rejoiced greatly that I have found some of your children walking in truth, as we received commandment from the Father. 2 John 1:4

1. God as the Father commands we walk in truth. 2. God the Father knows what is best for His children. 3. God’s truth is a revelation of His love for His people.

13 " Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. Matthew 7:13-14

Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night.3 He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper. If we can get people to love God then they will obey Him. 1. We have every reason to love God (1 Jn 4:19) 2. God’s love was/is shown (1 Jn 4:10; Jn 3:16) 3. Paul said that God had commended His love to man (Rom 5:6-10) 4. One who refuses to obey God needs to learn to love God and then he will want to obey the Lord (1 Jn 5:3)

Those who really love the Lord will: 1. Obey His commands to repent and be baptized for the remission of sins (Acts 2:38) 2. Love their brethren (2 Jn 5; 1 Jn 2:7-11)

Those who lead people from “The Walk” The “for” is the explanation for the emphasis
7 For many deceivers have gone out into the world who do not confess Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. 2 John 1:7

1. Keeping God’s command by walking in the truth (2 Jn 4) 2. Walking after truth because we love God (2 Jn 6)

1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 1 John 4:1

1. Denying and opposing Christ (they were “antichrists”). 2. They were deceiving men.

Men must love God and keep obeying Him or they will open themselves up to deception and destruction. and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, 12 that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness. 2 Thessalonians 2:10-12

Conclusion 1. God commands His children to walk in truth. 2. When God’s children love Him they want to walk in Truth. 3. Those who love God and His truth will not be lead way by false teachers.
