Who? Shaka- Established the Zulu Kingdom
He was from KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. What facilitated the creation of the kingdom: Shaka was a soldier in Zululand under Dingiswayo, and when Dingiswayo was defeated by the federation of Ndwandwe, he stepped in. He combined his army with Dingiswayo’s, and defeated Ndwandwe. After that, Shaka was the leader of Zulu from

The kingdom’s power rose when Shaka defeated the Ndwandwe and began to rule He centralized power in his court Collected tribute from regional chiefs Created a very strong military that defeated many other kingdoms His armies would raid through for cattle and food Kill anyone who questioned the authority of the Zulu Extended Shaka’s land

How? -Continued Zulu Kingdom’s Downfall
The Zulu started to decline when the problems with Great Britain began. Britain planned on bringing both of the African nations under their power, which included the Zulu kingdom. Great Britain invaded them and divided their territory.

Why? Became the most powerful African Kingdom in southeast Africa
Famous for the Anglo-Zulu War where they successfully defeated the British The Zulu still exist today and are the largest ethnic group in S. Africa
