3 How to register a case at 56 days
Should you have a member of your team who is absent for 56 days or more or there is an indication that they will be you will need to: Self report using Raise my HR Direct Query under People First/Attendance Or by Phone (2) 7700 Provide the following information via self reporting or over the phone: the employees name if you are in regular contact with the employee (frequency) reason for absence/condition likely return date (if known) if an Absence Support Meeting has taken place

4 How to register a case proceeding to a Stage 3
If you have a member of your team who is on sickness monitoring for short term absence and their episodes of sickness reaches the monitoring triggers you will need to: Self report using ‘Raise my HR Direct Query’ under People First (Top RHS) OR Phone (2) 7700 Provide the following information via self reporting or over the phone: the employees name date of stage 1 meeting (if applicable) date of stage 2 meeting (if applicable) is the employee currently absent likely return date (if known)

5 What to expect from HR Direct
An HR Advisor will contact you within 2 days of registration An HR Advisor will support you throughout the duration of the case An HR Advisor will conduct an initial triage of the case with you to ensure that all relevant information is recorded Details of follow up contact and key actions will be recorded.

6 What to expect from HR Direct (continued)
Regular contact as the case progresses to keep case notes updated Support and advice on your preparation for formal meetings and management case papers Referral to workforce colleagues should the attendance case require further expertise, for example, from Health, Safety and Well-being, HR Consult or HR Business Partners

8 What about my current cases?
HR Consultants will discuss with you whether the recommendation is for your case to be transferred to an HR Advisor or whether they will complete the case. This will be determined on a case by case basis for example by the stage the case has reached

9 Why do cases have to be registered at 2 months?
2 months is the optimum time frame for early intervention in long term sickness cases and for commencing case tracking. Cases are to be reviewed and next steps determined by 5 months ( see Policy) The organisational SLA for the completion of long term sickness cases is 7 months.

10 Can I register a case earlier than 2 months?
Yes, you can raise a query with HR Direct earlier than 2 months if you require advice and support for example if the absence indicates it will be long term The 2 month recommendation is the standard which we are operating for the latest date by which a case should be registered. We are doing this to encourage consistency and early intervention.

11 Why do cases proceeding to stage 3 need to be registered
Registering the case enables the case to be reviewed prior to a formal hearing It enables HR Consult resource to be allocated It enables consistent advice to be provided on case paperwork and for this to be reviewed.

12 Will I have access to HR to support at formal hearings
You may also wish to discuss your requirements for support with the HR Direct Advisor and how HR Consult may support you An HR Advisor can also ensure they are available to support you prior to or during any adjournments of a hearing if requested

13 What are the Key performance Indicators for Attendance?
Case triage within 2 days - An HR Advisor will contact you within 2 days of case registration Registration of long term sickness cases - Cases of 56 days of absence (2 months) or over should be registered by the manager with HR Direct Long term sickness cases – 7 month SLA - should be completed and closed within 7 months of the employee commencing continuous sickness. Stage 3 panel – 1 month SLA – case should be written up, case convened and held within one month of registration of the Stage 3 case.
