What are our curriculum drivers?
What traits would we like to see in our pupils? Which challenges do our pupils’ backgrounds present? What are our values? What kind of experiences should our pupils have before they leave? What skills should they have before they leave?

SPEAKING & LISTENING – Key driver Knowledge of the world (Wakefield, UK, World) Enquiry (investigative skills pupils finding out for themselves) Community/social (community champions) Aspirations & possibilities (world of work, ambitions) PSED (emotional & physical well-being)

MHS School charter During their time at Mackie Hill, we will strive to ensure every child will.. Participate in 5 different sports Take part in a public performance Take part in a residential visit Learn to swim Visit a theatre to watch a live performance Learn key skills from an expert visitor (e.g. author, artist, scientist) Learn basic first aid Learn basic road safety Visit an art gallery/museum Grow & cook their own food (learn how to cook a healthy meal) Correspond with pupils from a different country Participate in a fundraising project for charity Develop an understanding of the world of work/career choices/career aspirations Take part in an enterprise project (develop financial capability) Develop an understanding of how to protect the environment
