3 What is College Application month?
NC College Application Month is an annual event to support high school seniors in completing three important college enrollment steps: residency, FAFSA, and applications. The actual college applications are completed during the week of Nov 13th. How is HHS going to help? HHS will have a Financial Aid Workshop on Oct 12 from 3 - 5pm in the media center. Purpose of the workshop - To complete the RDS (residency determination service) form and obtain the FSA ID (federal student aid identification) password and username.

Attendees should bring with them: Student and Parent SSN (social security number) Drivers License Vehicle Registration Residence Information 2016 Tax Return Use the Google form sign up:   Sign up by October 11, 2017 so that we can ensure we have enough space and computers available.

5 What should you be doing now?

6 Start applying to those 4- year schools that interest you - NOW!
Don’t forget that you can also apply to community colleges and after two years transfer to a 4-year school in order to complete your junior and senior year . . . . . . same degree - smaller price tag!

9 Why is college application week so important?
During college application week (the week of November 13th) - some colleges will waive their application fees! (i.e. this is an opportunity to get something for free!)

10 Application Fees and Fee Waivers
The North Carolina Community College system does not charge an admissions application fee at any of its 58 campuses - at any time! Students who need a Collegeboard (SAT) and/or ACT fee waiver will need documentation before a fee waiver can be issued. See your school counselor for more information.

12 Where can you get help completing the FAFSA form?
FAFSA Day Oct 28, 2017 (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) FAFSA.gov or use your CFNC.org account Where can you get help completing the FAFSA form? Community Colleges (Financial Aid Department) will help anytime, even if you are not going to attend a community college - call for an appointment. SECU (State Employees Credit Union) during the month of November - call for an appointment. FAFSA Day - check for local locations.

13 Use your CFNC account to complete college applications.
Send your transcripts electronically through CFNC! It’s secure and fast! Mid-year and final transcripts will be sent automatically! Tip: In CFNC.org click on the “purple tab”

14 Use your CFNC account to look for merit-based, and need based scholarships and Grants!
Remember you don’t have to pay back money for scholarships or grants! Tip: In CFNC.org, click on the “green” tab for money related issues.

15 Where can you find other scholarships?. . .
Check out the HHS (School Counselor) website: Listen for School Announcements. Check out the school counseling office. Inquire at your church, parent’s work place, and clubs/organizations where you are a member.
