9 Renewable Program Research Study
Survey new Colorado participants in an Xcel Energy renewable program, including all net metering projects. Windsource® Solar*Rewards® Net Metering® Solar*Rewards Community® Awareness (how did you find out about …) & Learning (knowledge/research sources…) Choice (reasons for selecting program and whether multiple programs were evaluated) Satisfaction with program overall, and specifically enrollment process, communications, value for price paid, third party developers, etc. Open ended questions: suggestions for improvement, most/least valued aspects of program, what Xcel Energy should know

10 Agenda Review ideas shared during last meeting
Future Voluntary Renewable Programs Stakeholder Group Agenda Review ideas shared during last meeting Discuss priorities and next steps

11 Initial ideas discussed…
Future Voluntary Renewable Programs Stakeholder Group Initial ideas discussed… Idea Description C&I direct contracting Offer ability for commercial and industrial customers to sign a wind or solar contract either directly with an independent power producer or through some type of utility pass-through apparatus (e.g., sleeve contract) Coal and gas plant early retirement Use voluntary customer programs to finance early retirement of fossil-fuel plants and investment in replacement plants with no/low-carbon emissions Community renewables Offer renewable energy programs geared toward communities that are seeking to meet aggressive carbon reduction goals. Review several models including an umbrella offer or an opt-in. An umbrella offer is… and an opt-in model is… Environmental dispatch Use voluntary customer programs to enable the dispatch of power plants based on emissions characteristics rather than just their costs Excess Renewable Energy Credit (REC) donation Contribute RECs that the company has acquired, but will not be used for compliance, into a program that allows low-income customers to receive environmental benefit

12 Future Voluntary Renewable Programs Stakeholder Group
Idea Description Join Southwest Power Pool Join an RTO/ISO, such as the Southwest Power Pool, to make it cheaper to integrate more renewables and to enable customer participation, using their distributed energy resources, in wholesale markets Leverage Renewable Energy Trust to fund renewables programs Use funds remaining in the Renewable Energy Trust to fund renewables investment for low-income customers Long-term fixed price ??? Matching renewables subscriptions Allow customers to make voluntary contributions that sponsor enrolment of friends or family in Windsource, Renewable*Connect, Solar Rewards Community, or Solar Rewards Use social cost of carbon (SCC) in decision-making Include SCC in resource planning Wind curtailment Reduce the curtailment of wind by storing kWh where curtailment was previously necessary and discharging stored energy during hours when it would displace coal or natural gas generation

13 Hosting Capacity Resource
Existing/Future Programs and Grid Stakeholder Group Hosting Capacity Resource Review Phase 1 Hosting Capacity Analysis Update on Phase 2 Questions and suggestions

14 Avoided CT Starts Meeting Debrief
Existing/Future Programs and Grid Stakeholder Group Avoided CT Starts Meeting Debrief Meeting held on September 8. Main Request – PLEXOS Modeling Inputs Follow-up with Rick Gilliam (Vote Solar) on Wednesday, September 13. Response: The Company is unwilling to provide the highly confidential inputs for Vote Solar’s contemplated PLEXOS model runs. The Company is willing to work with Vote Solar and other interested parties to complete modeling on their behalf. The Company will start by establishing some base model runs and then sharing those with Vote Solar. Further technical meetings may be necessary to discuss runs and other necessary adjustments to modeling.

15 Battery Interconnection Update
Existing/Future Programs and Grid Stakeholder Group Battery Interconnection Update Currently accepting applications for new solar w/ battery and standalone battery Attestations required for all battery applications – provides greater detail and documentation to consider the application reviewable 1:1 conversations with installer to review chosen configuration designs New Solar + Battery Applications Application Stage Count Solar Installation Details 4 Documents and Payments 12 Engineering Review 19 Final Documentation 8 Completed 1 Total: 44 Standalone/Retrofit Battery Applications 9 11 GRAND TOTAL: 55
