Mexico city is built over the ruins of an Aztec city Tenochtitlan which was a lake because the Aztecs believed that their gods would show them a certain place to build their city the gods told them when they find an eagle sitting on a cactus with a snake in its mouth then you could build your city so now Mexico City shrinks about 6 to 8 inches a year
