( ) Designers: William Morris – Natural Prints, furniture, textiles, wall paper, organic, nature – Strawberry thief. Charles Rennie Mackintosh – Scottish, created Warndorfer Music room in Vienna, designs influenced by his love of nature. Characteristics of the movement: Products should be simple and functional. Form follows function (function before form). Use of natural materials , not synthetic. Influenced Bauhaus and Modernism, due to simplistic design. Skilled labour, instead of machine usage. Pride in craftsmanship. Many products are very expensive.

Jonathan Ives- Designer of the iMac, Blobject, modern materials and manufacture Sottsass – Dresser, primary colours Characteristics of Post-Modernism: Styles from other periods New modern materials Primary colours Aesthetics rather than function Memphis group Designs to appeal to fashion Ornamental and decorative finish
