1 Using an Inflatable Element
Innovative Internal Casing Patch Using an Inflatable Element As Remedial Solution by Mr Mohamed GABY

2 AGENDA: Saltel Expandable Steel Patch SES Patch Setting Process
Sealing Principle Features & Benefits Product Range Applications Case Histories

3 200 ELASTOMERIC SEALING GROOVES PER EXTREMITY
Saltel Expandable Steel Patch TOP CENTRAL TUBE BOTTOM WELDING 6 ft TOP 6 ft ANCHORING PROFILE The anchoring profile is made with 1ft of drainage channels that ensure the Patch to be anchored after the first expansion BOTTOM 200 ELASTOMERIC SEALING GROOVES PER EXTREMITY

4 SES Patch Setting Process

5 Sealing Principle 6m-20ft expandable steel patch, with 1.5m-5ft of grooved sealing elements on both extremities, creates more than 200 sealing contact points 5 MPa / 50 bars OVER PRESSURE TO ENERGIZE ELASTOMERIC GROOVES METAL SPRING BACK EXPANSION UNTIL CONTACT PRESSURE 50 bar / 700 psi Over pressure The sealing profile is designed to compensate the loss of compression lead by the metal spring back effect Inflexion point = Contact with the casing Expansion phase Setting pressure hold during 2 minutes Release pressure

6 Features & Benefits High performance Seals Expands until contact
Optimal ID Large RIH clearance Patch thru patch Multi diameter sealing Top down setting Expansion stress control Casing and Open Hole Rig or Rigless operations

7 Standard Patches Product Range
Full Range Standard from 4 in ½ to 13 in 3/8 Internal Differential Pressure supported up to 15K External Differential Pressure up to 3500 Psi Steel Thickness : 2mm – 6mm Standard Setting Temperature up to 150°C/300°F Patch Through Patch Capabilities Options Standard or V0 High temp CSS or SAGD ( up to 335°C / 635°F) Hostile Environment Totaly customized Patch

8 Applications Improving Well Productivity
Perforation shut-off (7), screen repair (6), isolating sections of screen between packers, closing ICD’s (8) Restoring well integrity Damaged, parted, split, corroded casings (2 & 3), leaking DV tools (1), sealing open frac ports (5) Curing total losses In underreamed section, without diameter loss, (4) High Temperature Applications EOR CSS and SAGD wells, up to 335°C/635°F (2 & 3)

9 Patches set in the world
Canada USA France Algeria Romania Oman Syria Gabon Russia Angola DR Congo Abu Dhabi Congo Argentina Germany Azerbaijan 2006 – 2009 : R&D, First Field Trials 2010 : Commercial launch > 600 Patches set worldwide 96% success ratio Patches set Project Ongoing

10 Case Histories Gaz Shut-off Campaign of 15 wells 7in Casing 26ppf
Isolate gaz producing formation. Depth : 1000 meters Temp : 50° C Conveyance : Tubing Result : 148%increase in oil production

11 Case Histories Tubing Leak Repair Gaz producer well
4-1/2in 13.5ppf production tubing Cover a leaking collar Depth : 1000 meters Temp : 55° C Conveyance : Smart Coiled Tubing Result : No more pressure build up in the A-annulus

12 Case Histories Water Shut-off Oil Producer 7 in 32ppf Casing
Seal-off water producing zone Depth : 3000 meters Temp : 100° C Conveyance : Drill Pipe Result : PLT showed BS&W production decrease from 61% to 22%

13 Case Histories Frac-port repair Horizontal Oil Producer 5-1/2in 17ppf
Cover an open frac port to allow frac operation Depth : 3300 meters Temp : 90° C Conveyance : 2-3/8in Tubing Result : All stages were frac’d at 8400psi (pump rate 44bbl/min)

14 Case Histories Sand Shut-off Off-Shore Horizontal Oil producer
Open hole Gravel pack completion (5in 18ppf) Seal-off sand producing zones. Well was choked down and production dropped from 10kbbl/day to 3kbbl/day Depth : 4000 meters Temp : 65° C Conveyance : Smart Coiled Tubing Result : Sand production dropped drastically which allowed client to flow back the 6kbbl/day
