Virgin Islands Puerto Rico Points of Interest: Anegada San Juan
The mountains of Puerto Rico show extreme winds due to topological acceleration. Shallows near Anegada and Vieques affect surge. Details of the Virgin Islands are not well resolved at this resolution. Leeward Islands Points of Interest: Anguilla St Maarten / St.Martin
The western Islands, Saba to Montserrat, show some topological effects on the winds. Surge among the islands shows complicated interactions. The pattern of waves is simple, by contrast. Antigua, Barbuda and St. Martin may deserve closer study. Windward Islands, North Points of Interest: Guadeloupe Dominica
The western half of Guadeloupe shows some of the most extreme winds in this Atlas, due to topological acceleration on the mountains there. Dominica also has extreme winds. Surge focuses near Point á Pitre, Guadeloupe. Windward Islands, South Points of Interest: St. Lucia Barbados
This is the southeastern corner of the “hurricane band.” Storm systems may form out in the Atlantic, but they seldom reach their full force before approaching Barbados. After that, the storms almost always pass north and west. Therefore, likely storm effects increase sharply from south to north in this region. The Grenadines are not well-detailed at this resolution.
