Teacher preparation matters
Excellent teacher preparation has major impact In one study, the impact of the top vs. bottom teacher prep programs exceeded the impact of poverty or learning disabilities on student learning Impact of teacher prep Reading One study conducted in Washington State found that student score differences are larger when comparing students with teachers from the highest- versus lowest-performing teacher preparation programs than when comparing students who are eligible to receive free or reduced lunch versus students who are not eligible, or when comparing students identified with learning disabilities vs. those with no identified learning disability. How do we effectively weave quality Core instruction with specially designed instruction to ensure students with disabilities “access and progress in the general education curriculum”? Have you considered whether all students have equitable access to effective educators?
