Women in the US still make an average of 75cents for every dollar that a man earns for doing the same job
Opportunities for minorities are still not equal
There is no guarantee that you will have the rights you have now forever

4. Why is it important to support Social Justice in other countries?
Human suffering is wrong no matter where it is
Injustices in other countries have an influence on the entire world and are a reflection on humanity in general
The economies of other countries affect the world economy

6. What is Fair Trade?
Fair Trade is an economic justice movement in which the workers receive a fair price and the consumers receive high quality products
Fair Trade supports human rights and economic justice for the whole world

7. Fair Trade Certification
In order to obtain Fair Trade Certification companies must do the following things:
Maintain fair prices
Maintian safe working conditions and provide a living wage to its workers

8. Fair Trade Certification continued
Companies must purchase products directly from the worker cooperatives (farms, plantations, etc.)
Maintain a democratic system to run the farms
Companies must donate money to improve the communities of the workers (building wells, schools, etc.)
Plants must be grown and harvested in a way that does not harm the environment

9. Fair Trade and the Environment
Water sources may not be polluted and water must be conserved as much as possible
Land must be farmed in manner that prevents erosion
Prevent the destruction of ecosystems and the indigenous animals
Harmful pesticides may not be used

10. What can I do to promote Fair Trade in my community?
Encourage organizations and clubs in my school to sell fair trade products for fundraisers
Set up Fair Trade information tables at school functions like, concerts, open house, sporting events, etc.
Encourage religious and fraternal organizations in my community to promote Fair Trade by using Fair trade products for snacks and drinks at meetings and for fundraising
