Total for 1 day trip $13 We only charge per number of days used Minimum fee of 1 day of use unless your trip leader cancels the trip Group safety gear is FREE!

Must happen before leaving lecture today: Fill out liability form Even if you’ve already filled it out before Register with desk worker Even if you’re already a member Do before Thursday: Fill out WS Personal Information Form

6 Renting Gear on Thursday
Meet with your leader (lecture hall) Determine what gear you need Grab and fit gear (office) Write gear ID on this form -> Hand form to desk worker

7 Checking Out Gear Must make deposit and payment with check
Deposit amount is replacement cost of gear Or……. Become a frequent flyer! MITOC

8 Frequent Flyer Write 2 checks No more deposit checks for one year!

9 Gear Rental Policy Once you have checked out gear, desk worker will hand you this form

10 Returning Gear Must be returned by Tuesday

15 White Mountain National Forest
Most, but not all, Winter School trips go to WMNF 10 person maximum for each trip Must display a parking pass at designated trailheads Backcountry camping regulations (later lecture) Outing clubs must have “Outfitter/Guide Permit” If you are on your own trip outside of Winter School do not tell the rangers you are part of MITOC or we will be charged for your trip

Near North Conway and Mt Washington 3-3.5 hour drive from MIT Propane heat, cooking stove, and lamps Sleeps ~15 comfortably Unheated yurt for overflow X

18 The Cabins: Camelot Near Rumney, I-93 2-2.5 hour drive from MIT
Electric lights and cooking stove Wood stoves for heat Sleeps ~40 but parking is limited X

19 Cabin Use $5 per night per member
Will be added to the cost of your rentals Keyholder is responsible person in charge and must be present at the cabin All trips staying at a cabin must have a trained keyholder The keyholder is usually one of the trip leaders, but may also be a participant Keep as clean/organized as possible Do lengthy chores such as dishes the night before Never leave in the morning before cleaning up your mess!

21 Trip Etiquette Minimize Impact on the Environment Be respectful
Carry-in/carry-out all waste, including poop Travel/camp on established trails or durable surfaces (snow, ice, rock…) “Take only pictures, leave only footprints…” Be respectful Listen to your trip leaders! Act courteously toward other hikers Obey rules and local laws as applicable
