1 Cleanup and Maintenance
Cannon Trail Cleanup and Maintenance

2 Volunteers Keep our Trail Beautiful
The following are a few suggestions we have to help you in your trail cleanup. Please remember we keep supplies and equipment on hand behind the fire station in a plastic tub.

3 Think Beyond Pedestrians
Think of mower drivers. Will they get hit in the face by branches, briars, etc? Think of bikers. Will they get hit in the head by branches? Will debris on the trail cause them to fall? Try to trim the trail at least the width of the mower deck.

4 Kick or Throw Debris Out of Mower Path
These branches will ruin mower blades. They were also out on the trail for bikers to hit.

5 Pines and Signs Branches are trimmed high for bikers.
Lower branches are already starting to grow back into mower’s path. Try to keep a 5’ – 8’ path cleared around sign. If it is kept clear the mower can cut right in.

6 Overgrowth Here is what happens when weeds are let go. It will take a brush hog to cut this back now. Once this is mowed, please keep it trimmed back with sheers.

7 Overgrowth Will Take Over
These weeds, briars, and vines are starting to reclaim the trail edges. Clippers are included in equipment to keep these vines cut back. Throw cut vines in wooded areas beyond the path of mower.

8 New sapplings If left to grow, new saplings will become trees growing too close to the trail. If cut young, the sheers should be able to cut through it. Tree roots will heave the pavement if left unchecked.

9 Rails and Fences Please keep these free of climbing vines.
Trim back any weeds growing up and around. If left unchecked, they will eventually take over where the mower cannot reach them.

10 Thank you for all you do.
