2. The Legislative Branch
The branch that makes laws
Powers vested in congress which consists of a Senate and a House of Representatives.
Have exclusive authority to raise taxes and adopt the budget and other money bills.

3. The Judicial Branch The Judicial Branch is run by the Supreme Court.
It explains and interprets the laws.
It is in charge of the court system.
Members are appointed by the President.

4. The Executive Branch
The Executive Branch is run by the President of the United States.
It enforces the laws.
It has responsibility and authority of the daily administration of the state bureaucracy.

5. The Preamble
The Preamble of the United States is “We the People of the United States, in order to form a more perfect Union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to our self and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”
It is the opening statement of the Constitution.
Explains the reason why the Founding Fathers wrote the Constitution and what it will do for Americans.

6. Checks and Balances
To keep any one branch from overstepping its powers, the Constitution sets up a system of checks and balances. This system has been called “ as elaborate and delicate as a spider’s web”. Each branch helps to check the actions of the others.

7. Judicial Review
Constitution is also the supreme law of the land. No law can violate the Constitution. The U. S. Supreme Court has the final say over the constitutionality of any act. This includes acts of Congress and the President.

8. Amending the Constitution
Twenty-six amendments have been made to the Constitution so far.
Amendments may be proposed by a two-thirds vote of each house of Congress.

9. James Madison
James Madison is known as the father of the Constitution.
Was the fourth President of the United States.
He was a politician and a political philosopher.

10. 18th and 21st Amendments
These amendments are about alcohol use in the United states.
The 18th amendment was taking alcohol away and the 21st amendment was bringing it back to the United States.
