What is this course about?
Focus on International Development and Food addresses issues of global poverty, inequality and injustice, sustainability socio-economic and policy perspective Ireland has a strong record of concern for global poverty and injustice and active participation in international development This course gives you the knowledge and skills to work in the exciting field of international development, at home or abroad With government agencies, NGOs or international organisations

Course Contents Understanding key issues in development – poverty, hunger, food policy, human rights, governance Skills development – research methods, statistics, programme management, marketing, policy analysis Language options – French, Spanish, Chinese

Work Placement 5 months in a developing country in 3rd Year
Mostly with Irish NGOs – e.g. Concern, Trocaire, Self Help Africa, Gorta, Hope Foundation, Edith Wilkins Foundation or partner organisations Countries include Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Zambia,, India, Bolivia, Guatemala
