3. What is the Mosaic application?
It’s a patent-pending dynamic personalization option for HP SmartStream Designer
This application helps users automatically generate a high number of unique graphics, embedded into a variable data job

4. What makes this application so appealing?
The ability to create endless designs without an “army” of designers
This plug-in offers a quick way to automatically create many different designs from a fixed number of base patterns This enables your customers to offer a unique consumer experience whereby the design of every product is different

5. How does it work?
The HP SmartStream Mosaic application uses a vector PDF file as input
It then generates a large number of variations by randomly transforming the file (using scaling, transposition, and rotation.)
The results can then be used as the variable image assets in the graphic design of VDP jobs.
Output files from the plug in can be in either PDF format or HP SmartStream Designer templates to be used in HP SmartStream Director or HP SmartStream Composer.

6. Pre-Requisites
Important: Users must be familiar with HP SmartStream Designer software
Mosaic is available for HP SmartStream Designer for PC (Windows 64-bit) and is included in the following software versions:
HP SmartStream Designer 6.3 for Adobe InDesign CS6
HP SmartStream Designer 10.1 for Adobe InDesign CC 2014 and later
All customers need to do is purchase or upgrade to one of these versions

7. How do I get started?
Create a Vector PDF File with square dimensions using Adobe illustrator or similar software that can output a vector PDF
The file’s design should be complex. The more complex and colorful the file, the better the results

Please note:
This technology enables you to generate any number of unique designs.
We recommend to us HP SmartStream Designer for up to 10,000 unique designs.
For 10,000 records and above, we recommend using HP SmartStream Composer

11. Personalized Coffee Cans – Metro, Germany
Converter Eshuis produced these coffee can shrink sleeves for Metro, Germany using both VDP personalization and Mosaic varable design producing a beautiful and truly unique result.

12. Cookie Wraps – Seikou, Japan
For HP Indigo MasterClass 2015 in Japan, HP Indigo Studio collaborated with Seikou for a cookie giveaway. The patterns for the flexible packaging were generated from the base design pattern by Mosaic.

13. Strauss
For the Strauss dairy VIP day our HP Indigo customer Tadbik asked for support with a WOW product. HP Indigo Studio took the most well-known product of Strauss and gave it the digital edge with Mosaic.

14. Placemats
To celebrate HP Indigo MasterClass 2015 Yokohama, HP Indigo produced 3000 different placemats for a festive lunch for employees.

15. Baby food label
To demonstrate the use of Mosaic on a label, HP Indigo Studio created a baby food brand label. Each version has a different animal representing it, and each animal has a pattern in mosaic.
