Evaluating contractors’ bids A valuable tool that sets the standards
3
ESTIM A solution to …. Estimating Process planning
Quotation management Manufacturing support Purchase order processing Client history
4
Manufacturing evaluation
Can you control your profit margin Do you estimate times within 5% Are your costs accurate Is your response quick enough Can you integrate your estimate with your production schedule Can you issue Shopfloor instructions Do you know the quotes you have won and lost Can you generate Purchase orders for materials directly from your successful quotations ???
5
Windows GUI quick and easy navigation around ESTIM.
Evaluation of labour content and material costs provide accurate cost engineering. Building the price from costs and profit. Quotation manager - keeps a record of all quotations won or lost.
6
Parts Master Parts are identified by Part Number, Customer, and user definable fields.
7
How ESTIM meets your needs
Calculates manufacturing costs from labour and material Ensures a profitable workload Produces quotations quickly Reduces response time Calculates machine load times for scheduling Compares actual with estimated times Builds materials required over multiple projects Spreads overheads over multiple projects Tooling cost report Quickly recalculated for a different batch quantity Facilitates optimum plant selection Sub-contract monitoring Compliance with ISO 9000/1/2
8
Parts are created in this screen.
Information associated with a part is easily entered or retrieved by clicking one of the tabs.
9
Connectivity Links to Production Control Links to MRP
Shop floor documentation ASCII file data export Links to word processing Links to spreadsheets Links to databases Ready to use database Single user or Networked Import CAD data Export Preactor data Eliminates unmeasured work No work study required ODBC standard
10
Search for a part by user definable fields
Parts Master Search for a part by user definable fields Classification of parts User definable grouping
11
Cost Analysis ESTIM can pay for itself by avoiding one single costly under-estimate! It will certainly eliminate lost contracts from over pricing as well as lost profits from under pricing. Complex assemblies costed easily - price breaks triggered by batch quantity changes. Product analysis by Bill Of Materials. You will have a cost advantage within a year.
12
Nominating ESTIM users
Security is ensured using password protection and three levels of access.
13
Compared to previous systems ESTIM for Windows is..
More simple to use More powerful More affordable More connective More practical
14
For families of parts, sizes can be defined by name and used in expressions.
This allows the calculation of cycle times for a wide range of parts without having to enter the part details again.
15
A “set” contains the sizes for a part.
Many sets can be created covering the whole family of parts.
16
The process plan of a part consists of many operations.
An operation is performed on a cost centre or machine. An operation holds descriptions for operator instruction and tool management.
17
Operations are a sequence of actions which are either Select Material properties
Select a Task
18
The “Cut Length” in this task is given as a distance but the thickness is a parameter
Selecting a general or specific tool from the library applies appropriate limitations if needed. Data for the task is recalled automatically.
19
The Results of the time calculations can be viewed without committing the time to file.
Reject will allow the conditions to be changed and the time re-calculated.
20
Reports Works Cost (Labour + Materials) x Quantity Mark up to “bid price” Production Summary A concise list of operations with Set and Run times Production Plan Full operation and tooling descriptions Set and Run times Detailed Summary Every action, with sizes speeds and times Manufacturing Performance Comparison of estimated to actual time
21
Drawings from CAD systems can be referenced or incorporated into ESTIM parts and documents.
Each operation can have its own image to provide stage drawing of the production method.
22
Costs of purchases are added either from the product database or free-hand entry.
Materials; Sub-contract; Processes; Bought out items; Tooling cost; Sheet Utilisation etc.
23
The database holds suppliers’ name, address and contact for the automatic preparation of purchase orders. Markup and discount rates for accurate calculation of purchase price. Product data with quantity price breaks - automatic compensation for batch size changes. Sheet types/sizes/thickness allowing for the calculation of the most economical sheet size.
24
Product Data Product data contains both supplier’s code and buyer’s code. Classification of products is by supplier and user definable categories. Selection of a product is by one or all suppliers and/or by one or all categories.
25
Bid Price Here all labour and materials have been entered.
By specifying a list of batch quantities ESTIM will determine the batch and unit prices amortising fixed costs over various quantities. Price breaks within purchasing are automatically triggered. Word will now format a high quality document for your quotation.
26
Bid Price This report shows the final bid price and how it is made up.
27
Manufacturing Efficiency
28
Sales Quote conversion
Monitor the ratio of quotations to orders received. Proportion by number of enquires Proportion by contract value. Sorted by customer. Report between dates. For a selected customer.
29
For all customers in a range.
The success rate for orders received against jobs quoted. The status report shows enquiries awaiting process planning and quotation.
30
Listing all enquiries grouped by customer.
The current status of jobs in order processing.
31
Assemblies Assemblies are made up of parts or bought out items.
Parts can be nested to multiple levels. Bill of material report gives quantities and prices of all items. Price breaks and purchase order processing grouping products by supplier.
32
Assembly tree structure
Shows all dependant parts
33
ESTIM Database Using the latest ODBC technology.
Stand alone, or Linked to other systems, ESTIM can be the source of valuable engineering information. ESTIM will share data such as drawings and documents from CAD and CAM.
34
The ESTIM database holds information on:-
Tool Types covering H.S.S. Carbide Coated tools Tools file Performance Limitations Tasks - such as fit seal setup machine drill hole Material Cutting performance Run rates Cutting Speeds Feeds Depths Man and machine Manual operations Simple and Complex machining Activity groups and cost centres To simplify search and selection Learning curves Reduced manufacturing time through familiarity
35
Tasks The elemental building blocks of manufacturing time, such as :-
fit seal setup machine drill hole
36
ESTIM has a database of engineering standards.
Users can enter their own as well to cover all manufacturing.
37
Tasks are grouped into menus, which ensure that the selection the user sees is appropriate for the application in question.
38
Prompts are questions that the user will answer with Yes / No or a quantity or size.
Standard time values will be added according to the answers given and calculations according to size or quantity. This is the task for Setup Painting. User editing shows which questions need answers when defining operations. The values without ticks are standard minute values.
39
This is what the user sees when adding a “Setup Painting” task to the process plan.
40
Cost centres Any chargeable resource is a cost centre: A man or a machine, from manual operations to simple or even complex machining. Activity groups and cost centres: Simplify search and selection. Running cost per hour and efficiency rating. Learning curves: Reduced manufacturing time through familiarity.
41
A complete range of manufacturing applications is provided.
Unusual tasks can be created by the user as needed.
42
Any type of machine or manual function can be defined.
This is Assemble within the Fabrication activity area.
43
Synthetic times and efficiency ratings for a Gear Shaper
44
The speed table for a Gear Shaper machine
45
Power and torque curves allow for precise calculations of machine capabilities.
46
The power used by the machine throughout the operation is shown graphically.
47
Material data covers speeds and feeds for all operations, including :-
Milling Drilling Turning Vertical Boring Grinding EDM Welding Punching & Nibbling Gear manufacture If a task involves a machine or a rate at which something happens, then the material data holds the speeds and feeds.
48
All applications are included. This one is drilling
All applications are included. This one is drilling. Any number of cutting tool types can be defined to add to the standard ESTIM library. An application such as drilling has speeds and feeds which vary with drill diameter
49
ESTIM Provides Planning
As comprehensive as you need. As elementary as you need. You can tailor it yourself. Your data representing your methods. Standard data available, if required. Controlled manufacturing from the outset.
