1 CSS1

2 Argo (web browser) History
Although this early adoption SSP had other advanced features that could not be integrated in CSS1 and had to wait for CSS2

3 CSS3 - Difficulty with adoption
Internet Explorer for Mac|Internet Explorer 5.0 for the Apple Macintosh|Macintosh, shipped in March 2000, was the first browser to have full (better than 99 percent) CSS1 support, surpassing Opera (web browser)|Opera, which had been the leader since its introduction of CSS support 15 months earlier

4 CSS3 - Variations CSS has various levels and profiles. Each level of CSS builds upon the last, typically adding new features and typically denoted as CSS1, CSS2, CSS3, and CSS4. Profiles are typically a subset of one or more levels of CSS built for a particular device or user interface. Currently there are profiles for mobile devices, printers, and television sets. Profiles should not be confused with media types, which were added in CSS2.

5 CSS3 - CSS 1 The first CSS specification to become an official W3C Recommendation is CSS level 1, published in December 1996.W3C: [ Cascading Style Sheets, level 1] CSS 1 specification Among its capabilities are support for

6 CSS3 - CSS 2 CSS level 2 specification was developed by the W3C and published as a recommendation in May A superset of CSS1, CSS2 includes a number of new capabilities like absolute, relative, and fixed positioning of elements and z-index, the concept of media types, support for aural style sheets and bidirectional text, and new font properties such as shadows.

7 Netscape (web browser) - Netscape Communicator (versions 4.0–4.8)
This new version, more or less based on Netscape Navigator 3 Code, updated and added new features (such as support of certain CSS1 elements, minimal dynamic font support and the proprietary object element)

8 The Web Standards Project - Organization
By 2001, the group had achieved its primary goal of persuading Microsoft, Netscape, Opera, and other browser makers to accurately and completely support HTML 4.01/XHTML 1.0, CSS1, and ECMAScript

9 Quirks mode - Mode verification
In most browsers, the Document Object Model extension document.compatMode indicates the rendering mode for the current page. In standards mode and almost-standards mode, document.compatMode contains the value CSS1Compat, while in quirks mode it equals BackCompat.

10 Mozilla Application Suite - Standards support
Mozilla had implemented most of CSS Level 2 and some of the not-yet-completed CSS Level 3 standard. It was among the first browsers to pass the original [ Box Acid Test], although it doesn't fully pass the more rigorous Acid2 test for HTML, CSS, and PNG standards support. Other browsers based on newer versions of Mozilla's core technology, however, pass the Acid2 test.

11 Internet Explorer box model bug - Background
The Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) specification describes how elements of web pages are displayed by graphical browsers. Section 4 of the CSS1 specification defines a formatting model that gives block-level elements—such as p and blockquote—a width and height, and three levels of boxes surrounding it: padding, borders, and margins. While the specification never uses the term box model explicitly, the term has become widely used by web developers and web browser vendors.

12 Internet Explorer box model bug - Bug
According to the CSS1 specification, released by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) in 1996 and revised in 1999, when a width or height is explicitly specified for any block-level element, it should determine only the width or height of the visible element, with the padding, borders, and margins applied afterward

13 Argo (web browser) - History
Although this early adoption SSP had other advanced features that could not be integrated in CSS1 and had to wait for CSS2

14 Anglo-Saxon paganism A variant of the Germanic paganism found across much of north-western Europe, it encompassed a heterogeneous variety of disparate beliefs and cultic practices.#CSS10|Carver, Sanmark and Semple 2010

15 Kerning - Kerning perception
For instance, on webpages with CSS1, a standard dating back to 1996, the letter-spacing property (illustrated) offers some control for lost or enhance kerning perception mdash; kerning can be simulated with non-uniform spacing between letters. The standard CSS3 (scheduled for 2014) includes the font-kerning property, which allows a complete control of kerning.

16 Standards compliant The tests developed by WaSP are called Acid1, Acid2, and Acid3, with each testing CSS1, CSS2, and CSS2+ (CSS2 + Client-Side Scripting), respectively.

17 Acid1 - History In 1999, the test was incorporated into the CSS1 test suite.[ CSS1 Test Suite: clear] The text used in Acid1 is an allusion to T

18 Acid2 Named after the acid test (gold)|acid test for gold, it was developed in the spirit of Acid1, a relatively narrow test of compliance with the Cascading Style Sheets 1.0 (CSS1) Technical standard|standard, and was released on 13 April 2005

19 Alcohol metabolism - Acetic acid to acetyl-CoA
The second enzyme is ACSS1 (acetyl CoA synthase-2) which is localized to mitochondria and is used for energy generation via the tricarboxylic acid cycle

20 Letter-spacing - Changing the Kerning perception
Example on webpages: with CSS1, a standard of 1996, the letter-spacing property (illustrated) offer some control for lost or enhance kerning perception mdash; kerning can be simulated with non-uniform spacing between letters
