Activity #1: Oral Feedback
Spend a few moments thinking about a time when you were given oral feedback. A good encounter A less satisfactory encounter How did it make you feel? Can you identify what made it a satisfactory/less satisfactory encounter? Share your insights with a peer (10 mins) (10 mins)

Giving Constructive Oral Feedback
Giving feedback is the most important and constructive way to engage a student: Try to make it a positive process & experience Be timely and regular Be specific Link to learning objectives / outcomes Start by allowing the participant to comment on their performance Confirm / Acknowledge their efforts (1 min)

Giving Constructive Feedback (Continued)
Talk about the positives first Explain how improvements can be made Explore improvements with students Agree a way forward with the student Never criticise Use a formal feedback form for observations or formal activities Highlights your assessment criteria Invite peers to give constructive feedback using the form (1 min)

Informal & Formative Feedback
Create a space for participants to give you ‘real-time’ feedback Use this space to adjust your training approach Encourage feedback through-out the day Use a designated space to capture issues outside of training (e.g. logistics) Observe a change in confidence during workshop (1 min)

Activity 1: Feedback Task
In pairs, review Day One’s Reflective Journal Listen/Read carefully and use the rubric to formally assess the journal entry Ask your peer how well they think they have performed Now show them your rubric and discuss the areas that could be improved Reach agreement about how to proceed Repeat the process for you! (20 mins) (30 mins)
