What does the FYE office do for me? What happens if I don’t attend class during the first 2 weeks of school? What happens if I quit attending classes?

5 Employment How do I find a job? Hire-A-Lion

6 HOUSING Is there a curfew? How do I handle roommate issue?
How to get food to fit dietary need? How do I report maintenance problem? Is Mayes Student Life Center open for all students? No curfew, but select building have visitation hours. Talk with roommate(s) respectfully. Have housing staff mediate if needed. Speak with Fresh Ideas staff Report to residence hall offices or housing staff. Yes, the Mayes Student Life Center can be used by all students.

8 Tutoring Where does tutoring take place? How much does tutoring cost?

Most 100 & 200, but also many upper division classes. Math, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Writing, Respiratory Care. Or call us Facebook MSSU Student Success Center

9 Campus Security Who do I call when I have a flat tire or lock my keys in my car? What is RAVE? What is ALICE Training? MSSU Police Department MSSU Alert is a new text messaging notification system designed to keep the students, faculty, and staff at Missouri Southern State University informed during emergencies. ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) 

10 Parking and Traffic Tickets
Can you get a parking ticket on campus? YES. Can you get a traffic ticket on campus? YES. Where do I pay these tickets?

11 Enrollment Classes are typically 16 weeks for fall and spring semesters. Summer semester is a full semester and not for make-up classes. Enrollment for the spring semester begins November 17th. How do I get enrolled? You will need an advisor. ACTS – undecided, Bachelor of General Studies, Health Science Business emphasis, and Bachelor of Applied Science and Para Legal certificate.

12 Dropping One Class If you want to drop one class after the 2nd week of school, you must pick up a withdrawal slip in the Registrar’s Office (Hearnes Hall). You need at least 3 signatures: your advisor or professor, financial aid, and the bookstore then return the completed form to the Registrar’s Office by the due date-Nov 4th. Pay attention to dates—you have a limited amount of time to drop and it could affect your financial aid. Please see your advisor first!

13 Dropping One Class cont’d
September 2nd –last day to drop a class with a full refund. September 16th –last day to drop a class with 50% refund. After this date-NO REFUND! November 4th –last day to withdraw from a class with a ‘w’.

14 Withdrawing From College
If you wish to drop ALL of your classes, you must complete a withdrawal form which is found in the Financial Aid Office. This will affect your financial aid. December 5th—Last day for complete withdrawal with all “W’s”.

15 Weather If the weather gets bad, will they cancel classes?

16 Health Nurse Is there a doctor in the house?
Physicals: daycare, nursing and other health related programs, police academy TB test Screening for STIs/pregnancy Urine test for urinary tract infection Women's health Titers (blood test to check for immunity) Vaccinations: Influenza, Hepatitis A & B, Meningitis, Tdap, Varicella (If other vaccines are needed, please call for appointment to discuss with nursing staff.) Travel consultations

17 ACTS Advising, Counseling, Testing Services
The primary goal of the Advising, Counseling and Testing Services (ACTS) department is to promote the student's academic and personal development. Services are provided for individuals with educational, academic, personal and social concerns. Experienced professional staff and licensed mental health counselors provide individual counseling for academic, career and short-term personal concerns as well as offer a variety of tests, inventories and referral services.
