US TileCal Meeting at UT Arlington
Status Update Readout Electronics J. Pilcher University of Chicago
2
3-in-1 STATUS 3-in-1 Cards 10,600 being produced
Plus spare semiconductors for 900 cards (8.5%) 9856 needed to equip calorimeter Extra 8% for spares, test setups, waste, etc. 9924 burnt-in, tested, shipped to CERN Enough for full drawer assembly Minor repairs needed on the rest Several hundred diagnosed and flagged for technician Repairs and testing proceeding on “as available” basis (summer students) 5/13/02 J. Pilcher
3
Mother Board Status Mother Boards 277 sets being produced (4+1 boards)
Plus spare semiconductors for 22 sets (8%) 256 sets needed to equip calorimeter Extra 21 sets (8%) for spares, test setups, etc. 185 sets burnt-in, tested, shipped to CERN Minor issues with Mezzanine board used for control Yield of working boards lower than expected (85%) Bad boards being diagnosed for repair (~40 boards) How to handle sets used for radiation tests (10) Use as is? Change semiconductors? 5/13/02 J. Pilcher
4
Interface Board Status
Optical Interface board Receives and distributes TTC signal Transmits data to RODs One per electronics drawer 17 pre-production boards burnt-in, tested, delivered to CERN All parts on hand and ready to ship for production of 264 boards Spare semiconductors for 21 boards 5/13/02 J. Pilcher
5
Interface Board Status
Work waiting for signed contract from Radiantech Sent 8 weeks ago Being reviewed by “lawyers” Cost in Taiwan is $19.6K Next closest vendor is Altron (US) at $27.7K 5/13/02 J. Pilcher
6
Electronics Planning & Coordination
Kelby at CERN this week for TTC review Clarify operation of TTCrx chip Weekly phone conferences on drawer production Need 6 drawers for June calibration run Working group on ROD specifications Valencia has production responsibility How to adapt LAr ROD design? Appears to be little experience in Valencia 5/13/02 J. Pilcher
7
Electronics Planning & Coordination
Receipt of LVL1 trigger signals Ensure desired treatment and processing Low voltage power supplies To be located in “fingers” As of March, no production design Radiation tolerance issues Space and power issues Cost likely high Prague group seems to have responsibility now George is a consultant 5/13/02 J. Pilcher
8
Electronics Planning & Coordination
Low voltage power supplies ≥2 years before production units in hand after design is frozen Radiation tests, PRR, parts procurement, assembly, burn–in, testing Stand-alone control and testing in pit System issues to resolve Multiple TTC domains Coordination of CIS, Laser, Cs, Min-bias calibrations Monitoring plans? 5/13/02 J. Pilcher
