A JOURNEY OF WORK AND FAITH
LEADERSHIP IN DOUBT A JOURNEY OF WORK AND FAITH
2
Let me tell you a story
3
Why stories? Stories require us to be transparent and vulnerable
Stories allow people to connect at a human level Stories stay with us in ways that facts never will Stories require us to be sure of ourselves and our values Stories can be healing for both the speaker and the listener
4
Storytelling tips Keep a journal Increase your visibility
Look, Listen, Learn Ask more questions Learn how to share other people’s stories
5
activity Name your story
What’s the big idea – not just practically, but emotionally? How is this story personally significant to you? If you haven’t shared this story widely, what’s been holding you back? Is there a specific person or audience that would immediately benefit from hearing it? If you’re not ready to share it with them within the next week, with whom can you safely practice sharing it?
6
Parting thoughts Don’t expect everyone around you to follow your lead, but encourage it where you can Be conscious of the emotions your stories may inspire Celebrate the good, confront the bad, embrace the ugly
