Shiloh by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor Setting: Friendly, West Virginia
By : Student A Setting Researcher
2
Where the story takes place.
In a small town call Friendly.
3
When the story takes place.
The book does not specifically mention a time when the story took place. If I had to take a guess, I’d pick the mid 1900’s because as we learned in class the book was based on an actual experience that the author had while walking in the tiny community of Shiloh, West Virginia. Also, mentioned in the story is the use of telephones and TV’s which were invented by then.
