Healthy Ball eTwinning project by 5th class in 2014, Pohjan koulu, Seinäjoki

3 THE PROJECT NAME: “Healthy Ball”
THE PROJECT NAME: “Healthy Ball” IDEA: “Healthy Ball“ guides the health of many countries in Europe. Those countries exchange games where this ball is present in a natural setting, if possible. INCLUDES: children aged from 9 to 11. WORKING LANGUAGE: English.

4 The happy and fun ball represents the happiness for doing sport and how this happiness is in all healthy activities.

5 Children can see how warm up activities and the games have a positive impact on health.
Each country has to choose, play and teach one game to the rest of the partners using ICT tools. The rest of the participants then play the games and they share their experiences playing the game using ICT.

6 The aim of this project is that the children:
Aims The aim of this project is that the children: - Establish multicultural relations with members of other cultures to build up a more open and respectful attitude which will enrich their personal experiences. - Respect and value cultural differences as an enriching experience rather than a barrier between cultures. - Promote and encourage the use of ICT as a learning tool and as a means of communication and socialization.

7 - Improve proficiency in English and appreciate the importance of learning English as a vehicle of communication between different cultures. - Learn different games from different countries as a way of achieving personal growth and creating opportunities for the good use of free time. - Be aware that a healthy life style will have a direct impact on their quality of life.

8 THE PROCESS The 5th class kids made the project of the game ”polttopallo”. First they made a video in which they presented their school by throwing SMILEY-ball from on person to another. Each of them told their names and in which part of the school the ball was in that picture.

9 Next thing was to translate the rules of the game in English during the English lessons.
After that the teacher shot the video when the kids played the game outside. Both of these videos were uploaded on the eTwinning website. Later the teacher tried to create a video conference between participants, but firewalls of Seinäjoki ICT-systems made it impossible.

10 COMMENTS The kids enjoyed the project a lot. Filming and uploading everything took quite a lot of time and effort. Teachers decided that one project per year is enough.
