1 Mug Shot (F#$% the Police)
An Observation on African American Justice in America

2 Form Partially visual, partially a video, I want to portray a black man that has been arrested by the police. There will be video component that is projected on a large screen. I will be dressed as my character in real form in the piece. I am thinking of ways to interact with the audience as this character.

3 Concept I want to continue with the idea of race in America. This being a topic I recently started exploring, I want to push the boundaries of my experiences with fictional happenings. I want to recreate racial awkwardness that I have felt for those who are not able to experience such feelings.

4 Methods I want to play with video. The video plays with the audience idea with how we view a person that seems guilty . Maybe I can create a video that can fool an audience.

5 Budget Materials: For video shooting- $50
For location usage- Hopefully Free For Install- $75 For removing install- Hopefully Free

6 Timeline Jan to Feb 3- Brainstorming and Solidifying ideas for installation Feb 3 to Feb 5- Presenting Idea and proposal Feb 5 to Mar- Developing Idea and prepare for review Mar to Apr- Review before Critique for finalized developments Apr- Work until Final Critique

7 Mug Shot I can take this initial idea in 3 ways depending on the help I can get. 1. I can be the black man that has been arrested and but he is actually a very deep person and during his mug shot is looking into why he was arrested from an intellectual point of view. 2. I can be split in two and be both a stereotypical black man that is “ghetto” and seems as if he should be arrested while the other persona is a black man that “acts white” and seems completely harmless. 3. I can be the black man that is innocent and have a friend be the white man that is guilty and compare how the they are received by the audience.
