Mayor’s Task Force on TCH
January Mayor’s Task Force on Toronto Community Housing established 6 volunteer members Asked to offer advice on “how to strengthen and support the deliver of housing to residents now and in the future.” Tenants First

Community Consultations
Throughout 2015, the Task Force heard from Over 1000 tenants and community members 100 different stakeholder groups (staff, community groups, housing providers) Officials from the City, Province & Federal governments Tenants First

Tenants First Report January Task Force issued Final Report: “Transformative Change for Toronto Community Housing” 5 transformative ideas & recommendations for improving Toronto Community Housing Transition to a community based non-profit housing corporation Create mixed-income communities Better buildings and more of them Decentralize operations & strengthen partnerships Reform the RGI system City reviewed the Task Force report -asked staff to report back with directions on how to move forward on the 5 ideas. June Council approved “Tenants First” A Way Forward for Toronto Community Housing & Social Housing in Toronto” Tenants First

Key recommendations in Tenants First Report: Council asked staff to develop an implementation plan with direction on the Task Force’s 5 transformative ideas by mid 2017 Establish a Committee of City & TCH staff to help guide the plan Establish a TCH Resident Advisory Group to help guide the plan Tenants First

Resident Advisory Panel: Roles & Responsibilities
Provide direction & advice to staff and the Implementation Steering Committee on the Tenants First plan that will go to Council Consider ideas that will improve Toronto Community Housing and make it a better place to live for tenants Support tenant engagement activities related to Tenants First initiatives Attend orientation and monthly meetings, or as needed (honoraria & supports provided) Participate in panel discussions Tenants First

Application process- respond to 3 questions Deadline to apply Friday February 3rd Application screening process Interview process- February 6-10th Successful candidates notified shortly after Orientation & training mid-February Other opportunities for engagement in future! Tenants First
