2. Today’s Goals and Agenda
Goal: To get acquainted and learn some information and procedures you need to know for Chemistry class.

Complete introduction sheets
Review syllabus/safety contracts
Explore tools used for class

3. Safety Contracts
Safety Contracts must be signed and returned on or before the first day of lab in order to participate in lab activities
This is a legal issue
Safety is the NUMBER ONE priority in Chemistry Lab!
Please print your name CLEARLY on your Safety Contract
Contract is also available on the class website

4. Classroom Rules
 All school rules and policies found in the N-Book apply in this classroom
Treat the teacher, other students and the classroom with respect
Be prepared for class (see below for requirements)
Be on TIME!
No food or drink is permitted at anytime in the classroom
Leave bags, purses and head coverings in your locker.
Unless otherwise stated, Electronic devices (cell phones, tablets, headphones) MUST be put away during class time and NOT on top of your desk!

5. Hall Passes/Lateness
Every students is permitted 12 passes per marking period
For each unused pass, you can earn 1 bonus points/pass
ID with lanyard IS REQUIRED
Sign out is REQUIRED
Unexcused Lateness to class can result in loss of passes/parent contact/referral

6. Materials Pen or Pencil Chemistry Notebook/Packet
Scientific Calculator
Folder
Textbooks - available for use during class or may be checked out of the library
If you need to borrow a pen/pencil/calculator, you must do so within the first 5 minutes of class AND provide collateral.

7. Grading and Absences Grading Absences Total points system
Labs, Tests, Quizzes, Homework, Classwork
Absences
It is YOUR responsibility to make up missed assignments in a timely fashion
Tests, Quizzes and Class work can be made up, Labs cannot. All work must be made up outside of class time.

8. Fire Drills! During a fire drill
All students calmly exit the classroom, turn left and go down Stairwell 3 to the FIRST FLOOR
Continue ACROSS the bridge and exit out of the FORUM doors.
Once outside locate the area for Classroom 235
ALL students MUST REPORT to the teacher immediately
When the drill is over you are to report back to class, NO WANDERING!
Failure to comply will result in a discipline referral

10. A look ahead… Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays are 43 minute classes
Wednesdays and Thursdays are 86 minutes – Lab Days!!
Our first lab day will be on Wed (9/7) or Thurs (9/8)
