WHY OPTIMIZATION? – Maximizing Utilization
FREIGHT AVAILABILITY Network Design / Pricing (Rates, Flow) Strategic Solicitation (Balance, Timing, Rates) Appointment Setting (Velocity, Flexibility) FLEET AVAILABILITY Seated Trucks (w/ Driver Domicile Strategy) Driver Management (Working Percentage - Daily Targets, PTAs) Planning (Assigning Tractors Quickly) When we talk about Maximizing Utilization, the first thing a customer wants to know is whether or not we really know what that means. It varies somewhat from one customer to the next, and there are many different flavors and approaches, but for most asset-based carriers, it’s about your revenue per asset over time. In irregular route, over-the-road environments, it comes down to how you maximize both the Miles on the asset and your Rates. Miles are function of the right marriage between Fleet Availability and Freight Availability. This is where Match comes in. Match helps you maximize driver hours through engineered HOS and transit modeling which increases Fleet Availability and improves Velocity. Match also helps you minimize empty miles, which are costly and also rob you of valuable work time that should be available to produce more revenue miles.

WHY OPTIMIZATION? – Try Optimizing Just One Thing
IDSC MatchAdvice Can Crunch Hundreds of Thousands of Load-Truck combinations in just a few minutes, and it looks at a lot more than just empty miles. Tractor Types Driver Types Driver Certs Geo Limits HOS Location & Timing Load Specs Transit Rates Appt Times Customer Hours Trailer Types Monitoring

WHY OPTIMIZATION? – Global Planning Impact Visibility
Utilization Deadhead Velocity Service Utilization? Deadhead? Velocity? Service? IDSC MatchAdvice shows you the deadhead, excess dwell and in-transit delays, and the projected service exceptions now, while you can do something about it, vs. waiting for the daily, weekly or monthly reports. IDSC MatchAdvice gives you real-time, global visibility of the optimal solution for every cycle. What this means is you can see right now what would happen if you follow the optimal solution. You can see the loaded percentage, the empty miles, the excessive dwell times and in-transit delays, and the projected service exceptions. You don’t have to wait for the daily, weekly, or monthly operational reports to know where your opportunities were. You can get a clear picture at the point of impact when you still have a chance to do something about it.
10
WHY OPTIMIZATION? – Utilization, Service, Planning
Manage PTAs Increase Velocity Loaded Ratio Service HOS Modeling Customer Priority Create Capacity Planning Reduce Search Global Visibility Reduce Replans From a Utilization standpoint, Match can help you manage PTAs through advanced automated PTA modeling, increase velocity by eliminating dwell time between assignments and tightening transit schedules, improve loaded ratios by squeezing more hours out of your assets and reducing unproductive empty miles that can be replaced with revenue generating miles. Match can help you manage on-time service with effective HOS modeling, customer priority weightings, and capacity creation through identifying assets with slack time in current assignments and other assets not normally considered b/c of artificial border restrictions such as planning areas or even fleet divisions. At the end of the day, Match is a Planning tool, and it helps reduce search time for each assignment decision, enables global visibility to Planners beyond traditional boundaries, and helps reduce the number of replans by helping identify truly feasible solutions the first time.

SOFTWARE VS. BUSINESS PROCESS
Loads Appointments Balance Trucks PTAs Data Integrity Planning + Revenue Miles, - Empty Miles, + Velocity, - Waste, + Happy Drivers, - Replans, + Service Business Processes are what set your path for success. IDSC MatchAdvice can only work within the confines of logic and mathematics. Creating “Best Practice” Business Processes around Appointments and PTAs are two of the most directly impactful things you can do to improve your Operations today, with the least cost and quickest ROI.
13
SOFTWARE VS. BUSINESS PROCESS – It’s Math, Not Magic
IDSC Matchadvice can IDSc matchadvice can’t Find the best Truck for the Appointments on the Load Find the best Load for the PTA on a Truck Create Capacity in terms of finding Trucks with low hours who can still do some work Find a Load to get a Driver home, if it exists and has a workable Appointment and his PTA and RTO/STO are set Change a “Bad” Appointment Change/Fix a Locked PTA Create Capacity to cover 30 OTR Loads with 10 Trucks Create a Load to get a Driver home, change Appointments to get him home, change his PTA so the Load that gets him home gets recommended
