The Norman conquest of England created a powerful Anglo-Norman entity and brought England into the mainstream of European civilization.

10 The hurch The Roman Catholic Church transcended national boundaries and fostered cultural unity among Europeans.

11 The parish church was the center of every town.
One of the largest buildings in town with stained-glass windows and statues that told stories from the Bible to the villagers who, for the most part, could not read. The church was involved in every aspect of the lives of the people including baptism, marriage, burials, and other hardships. Every Sunday, every villager went to church to a service in Latin (which they didn't understand) and a sermon (which they did understand).

12 The Magna arta The Magna Carta weakened the political power of the Church. It laid the foundation for later English and American Constitutional Law.
