Equator An imaginary line that circles the Earth halfway between the North and South Poles

Latitude Horizontal lines that circle the earth running east to west and measure North or South of the equator

Prime Meridian Imaginary line that divides the Eastern and Western Hemispheres. The Prime Meridian runs through Greenwich, England.

Longitude Vertical lines that run the same direction as the Prime Meridian and measure distance East or West of the Prime Meridian.

International Date Line
The line directly opposite of the Prime Meridian. It separates one calendar day to the next. Located in the Pacific Ocean at approximately 180 degrees.
