Assessment for Learning
March 24, 2015 Heather Rottermond Sandy Riley

Today’s Learning Targets
I understand the five keys to quality assessment and can apply them to units of study in my classroom. I have a clear understanding of the commitment for this work for this year including meeting dates, expectations, and my role as a facilitator. I understand the process for setting up my team for success and I can plan meetings to help support their learning. I understand that part of this process is building relationships within and across districts for the purpose of deepening my knowledge of assessment literacy and building my own support network. I can continue my own learning and develop new or revise existing units of study using the CASL process.

Roll Out Plan for Assessment Literacy 2015-2016
D J F M A 3 online 4 2 1 *The online sessions will be a way for all three Cohorts to collaborate and share their challenges and successes. The online will be another way to monitor the progress of the Cohorts. The red sessions indicate that Cohorts 1&2 will meet together. These meetings are crucial for the continuation of networking across countries and districts, development of leadership skills, and fidelity of implementation of Assessment Literacy framework. The online format is dynamic, meaning that leaders from Cohort 1 could begin facilitating the online discussion. The inclusion of Twitter chats will also ensure collaboration and the sharing of ideas/strategies. Cohort 3 - Attend 6 monthly meetings and 2 online meetings, implement 2 units, journal, collect pre/post and survey data, board presentation, monthly principal meetings Cohort 2- Attend 6 monthly meetings and 2 online meetings, implement 2 more units, journal, collect pre/post and survey data, board presentation, monthly principal meetings, lead group of teachers back in their own building (attended summer training), begin to provide leadership within the building around PD, begin to prepare to be a trainer Cohort 1 - Attend 4 monthly meetings and 3 online meetings, continue to implement 2 more units, collect data (pre/post)/surveys, board presentation, monthly meetings with principal, continue working with teams within the building and adding new teachers from the summer trainings (2-4 days), and possibly plan for building-wide awareness PD, continue to prepare to become a district trainer, begin leading Day 1&2 trainings and assist in facilitating in online meetings Cohort Day Summer Training 2 new buildings per district, 2 people per building for Cohort 3 (WISD will pay for up to 2 subs per district in Washtenaw County) Cohorts 1&2 will invite up to 4 friends from their current building to participate in the summer training. The first two days of training are mandatory, while the second two days could be used for members to plan together. It would be a district decision to pay teacher stipends. Those teachers that Cohorts 1&2 invite to the summer training will be facilitated in their own building by teacher-leaders from Cohorts 1&2.

Planning Board Presentation
Get on your Board’s agenda to present 5-10 minute presentation Things to include: What is Assessment Literacy? How did you implement it into your classroom? How did it go for year 2? Results of student learning (pre/post, anecdotal data) Results of facilitating a small group of teachers in their learning Examples of student work, your unit, pictures of learning, etc. *It may be helpful to create a presentation with others from your district that are in Cohort 2. We can provide a list of participants if you choose to structure your board presentation this way.
