What is an Industry Certification?
A voluntary process through which students are assessed by an independent, third-party certifying entity using predetermined standards for knowledge, skills, and competencies, resulting in the award of a credential that is nationally recognized and must be at least one of the following: (a) Within an industry that addresses a critical local or statewide economic need; (b) Linked to an occupation that is included in the workforce system’s targeted occupation list; or (c) Linked to an occupation that is identified as emerging. Expanded the number of industry certifications 0ffered M-DCPS now offers 109 industry certification exams 47 exams provide articulated college credit From 3 college credits to 36 credits, saving families from $333-$4,739 in average tuition and fees

Industry Certification Updates
No change in teacher bonus for Proposed changes in teacher bonus for M-DCPS CTE new offerings include Toon Boom Animation and Child Development Associate Adobe Photoshop has been moved to MS as Adobe801, Digital Certificate New Adobe Photoshop (cloud) is Adobe022 IC3 Computing Fundamentals, Key Applications and Living Online are now three separate tests as Digital Certificates

Digital Tool vs. Industry Certification
CAPE Digital Tool Certificate CAPE Industry Certification Available to students in elementary and middle grades Currently, to earn a digital tool certificate, a student must pass an assessment of word processing; spreadsheets; sound, motion, and color presentations; digital arts; cyber security There are 15 approved digital tools certificates Award .025 added FTE bonus No acceleration points No teacher bonus The certifications are available to students in grades 6 through 12 These are industry certifications that do not articulate for college credit or do articulate for up to 14 college credits based on a statewide articulation agreement CAPE Acceleration Industry Certifications: These are industry certifications that articulate for 15 or more college credit based on statewide industry certifications Industry Certifications with a weight of 0.2 articulate for college credit Added FTE bonus can be .01 through 1.0 Acceleration for ICE and teacher bonus awarded based on exam weight

Test Administration Procedures for 2015-2016
Computer Tech needs a Certiport Account Certiport Admin must read all red messages on site. All Industry Certification exams have been updated. All teachers must be proctored by District Personnel. Student must use ID Number as username in Certiport Account Password suggestions Create an exam group Teacher cannot proctor their own students Retake after 20 calendar days.

Testing Accommodations for Individuals with Disabilities
Individuals with disabilities seeking industry certification should be encouraged to request appropriate accommodations (if needed) so the test results accurately reflect their competencies/proficiencies in their chosen career field. Counseling should be provided so that students understand their rights and responsibilities in assessment/testing matters. Industry certification testing accommodations are determined by testing agencies and may differ from classroom accommodations.

ICE Data Collection Findings
Reporting of same student with same test in multiple periods Student names appear in gradebook but not in vendor list Student names appear on vendor list but not in gradebook Reporting P’s and not F’s (all ICE taken/attempted must be reported) Reporting student scores with more than one version of test Sign In: Username is student’s ID number and Password can be last name Careful with Proctor and Teacher name placement Difficulty obtaining “official results” such as ServSafe and exams taken at off-site test sites or exams taken after close of gradebook at the end of the school year

Career-Themed Course Registration
A career‐themed course is a course or a course in a series of courses that leads to an industry certification on the Industry Certification Funding List. School districts are annually required to register career-themed courses offered in secondary school as well as high school and middle school career and professional academies. Industry certifications earned in career-themed courses are eligible for additional full-time equivalent (FTE) membership in the FEFP calculation. Deadline Activity Oct.16 – Nov. 30 2015 Register career-themed courses Feb 22 – Mar 1 2016 Update Additional window to register/update courses during Summer 2016
