3 Preparation What you need: Notebook or PC running a XP, Vista or Windows 7 (32 or 64bit) – Windows 7 is recommended USB driver “Picasso E USB with recovery mode.zip” Acer Download Tool V2.020(or later) Micro USB->USB cable Image files Username and password Internet connection

4 Windows 7 (recommended):
Installation Windows 7 Windows 7 (recommended): To install the drivers please connect the tablet to your PC using the USB cable. The unit must be in USB-debugging mode. The system will ask for MTP drivers. Please open your Device Manager and install the driver manually. As driver location choose the unzipped “Picasso E USB with recovery mode” folder. Execute the “Acer Download Tool V2.020”(or later) and start the download- procedure as shown starting on slide 9. The preload process will fail while downloading. Please navigate to your Device Manager and find “APX” with missing driver. Please start to install the driver manually. All needed files are included in “Picasso E USB with recovery mode”. Restart the tablet and the “Acer Download Tool V2.020”(or later).

5 Windows XP (not recommended):
Installation XP Windows XP (not recommended): To install the drivers please connect the tablet to your PC using the USB cable. The unit must be in USB-debugging mode. You can close the “New Hardware Wizard” if it appears. Please open your Device Manager and install the driver for “MTP” and “A200” manually. As driver location choose the unzipped “Picasso E USB with recovery mode” folder. Execute the “Acer Download Tool V2.020”(or later) and start the download- procedure as shown starting on slide 9. The preload process will fail while downloading. Please navigate to your Device Manager and find “APX” with missing driver. Please start to install the driver manually. All needed files are included in “Picasso E USB with recovery mode”. Restart the tablet and the “Acer Download Tool V2.020”(or later) .

6 Merged OS File: Path to image file (*.bin)
Application Overview Merged OS File: Path to image file (*.bin) Adb: 0= not connected or recognized, 1= unit connected with enabled USB-debugging Boot-Recovery: 0= not connected or recognized, 1= unit connected and Boot-Recovery mode enabled Username/Password: Please enter your username and password CPU ID/ MBSN: Boot-Recovery can only be used when CPU ID or MBSN has been entered. These information can be found in ASP/CSS or SIC.

7 Adb mode/ Boot-Recovery Mode
The Adb mode should be used as usual option. The tablet needs to have „USB Debugging“ enabled. The Boot-Recovery mode can be used when the unit is unable to boot anymore due to a software issue. You´ll need the CPU ID or MBSN.

8 1. Enable USB debugging on the target unit.

9 4. Enter your Username and Password. 5. Press the „Start“-button.
Preload a unit using Adb-mode 2. Select the *.bin file you want to preload to the unit from your local machine or network drive. 3. Connect the tablet to your PC/Notebook using the USB-cable and make sure the tablet is powered on. The Adb state should be „1“ now. 4. Enter your Username and Password. 5. Press the „Start“-button.

10 On the right side you´ll see unit information and current status.
Preload a unit using Adb-mode On the right side you´ll see unit information and current status. The unit will switch automatically from Adb mode to Boot-Recovery mode (as visible in the Download Tool) The tablet might vibrate and restart during the procedure.

11 You can now disconnect the tablet.
Preload a unit using Adb-mode The preload takes around four minutes. You´ll see the progress on the right side. When the download was successfull you´ll see the Android-Robotor on a skateboard and the information that the process finished successfully. DONE! You can now disconnect the tablet.

12 Preload a unit using Boot-Recovery mode
Press the „Reset-Button“ (e.g. with a paper clip) and hold the „Power-Button“ for about 3 seconds. Release the „Power Button“ and keep pressing the „Reset-Button“ for another second. Connect the tablet to your PC/Notebook using the USB-cable. The Boot-Recovery indicator should show „1“ now.

13 Enter your Username and Password.
Preload a unit using Boot-Recovery mode Select the *.bin file you want to preload to the unit from your local machine or network drive. Enter your Username and Password. Select the checkbox and enter CPU ID or MBSN of the tablet. Press the “Start”-button.

14 Preload a unit using Boot-Recovery mode
You´ll be asked to confirm that the selected device and .BIN are correct. If the selected BIN file is matching the below list, please click „Yes“.

15 Preload a unit using Boot-Recovery mode
When the download was successfull you´ll see the Android-Robotor on a skateboard and the information that the process finished successfully.
