1 Religious Iconography in the Vampire Genre.

2 Bramstokers Dracula In Bramstokers Dracula (1992) there is a heavy focus on religious iconography with various different close ups on rosaries and crucifixes. Throughout the movie the audience also sees Dracula tremble at the mention of Gods name. During the film we see Lucy (Draculas female victim) get killed with a crucifix after it was presented in front of her. This contrasts with Let the Right One In (2008) where there we see no presence of religious iconography. Before After

3 Let the Right One In There was not many examples religious iconography used in the Swedish film version of Let the right one in. We found in our research the only form of religious iconography that could be an example is the use of blood which is tears are a symbol of grief, and blood is a symbol of physical pain and death. Thus combining the two and using it as a symbol of sacrifice with the crucifixion of Christ

4 Twilight: Eclipse This film indirectly hinted at religious iconography through the character Edward Cullen. During the film Edward refuse to have sex with Bella insisting that they wait till they are married, hinting that he may be religious. This convention has been altered from being extremely prominent in the first vampire film nosferatu To almost non-exisistant in most modern day films like Twilight. This is because society has become more secular and more lenient in our way of thinking.
