APLE’s holistic model NOTE ON PROVISION STRATEGY
The timeframe changes depending on the case but the approximate time to complete the cycle of support is between 3 to 5 years Timeframes based on the Cambodian Criminal Procedure Code: Felony: The suspect can be detained up to 18 months before the trial takes place; meanwhile the victim has to receive support Misdemeanor: The suspect can be detained up to 10 months before the trial takes place; meanwhile, the victim also has to receive support For both, felony and misdemeanor, the timeframe of the legal proceeding could be very long if the suspect is on bail or has not been arrested (although the case proceeds at the court). In these cases, supporting the victims and advocate on their behalf to speed up the legal proceeding represent a big challenge Sources: Ministry of Women’s Affairs, UNICEF Cambodia, U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention (2014). Findings from Cambodia’s Violence Against Children Survey 2013: Summary. Cambodia: Ministry of Women’s Affairs. See Hilton, A. (2008) ‘I thought it could never happen to boys.
