3. Remember!
Complete an inspection of your truck’s fluids, tires, and safety features before leaving the plant each day (consult the inspection checklist)

4. Loading your truck Always double check the load before you leave the plant and correct any shortages, even if your plant loads your truck for you.
Load in reverse order (first customer should be loaded last for efficient handling, and last customer should be loaded first)
Load garments and linens in designated areas of your truck
Prevent clean returned inventory from becoming soiled
Keep healthcare linen and apparel, executive uniforms, and any other special handling items isolated from the rest of the load and soiled returns
Keep oily or wet towels separated from the rest of the load

5. Unloading your truck When arriving at the loading dock at the conclusion of our route, you will be responsible for unloading the soil to begin the sorting process.
Unload soiled inventory into correct carts or bins
Remove all excess items from your truck (including clean items that did not get delivered)
Return clean flat items to their proper location
Properly dispose of any garbage on your truck

6. Safety First When lifting, use your legs and keep your back straight
Observe OSHA universal precautions when handling soiled healthcare linen
Finally, smoking is discouraged in Alsco vehicles

7. Service Logistics Make sure you acknowledge you customer twice: when you arrive, then again when you are ready to leave.
Prepare the load first, take as much as you can carry in one trip, place the clean load you are carrying in the delivery area, then immediately go and approach the customer contact
After speaking to the customer, return to the delivery area to complete delivery of clean and pick-up of soiled items or return to the truck to deliver any items you could not carry on the first trip
Service any All Fresh and/or dust items
When service is complete, return to customer contact to get the invoice signed and thank the customer for their business

8. Safe Driving You are driving a vehicle that is larger than most on the streets you will be using. Use patience and caution.
Wear your seatbelt when driving
Try to avoid backing up whenever possible; if you absolutely must back up, get out and walk around your truck to ensure that there are no obstacles in the way
When driving, maintain proper following distance from the car in front of you; 1 car length for every 10 miles per hour
When weather is inclement such as rain or snow, SLOW DOWN and increase your following distances
Take corners slowly and widely enough to avoid hitting curbs and/or roadside obstacles
Use turn signals earlier than in a normal vehicle; give other drivers plenty of time to recognize that your are turning or changing lanes
Use your mirrors and check your blind spots before changing lanes
Avoid talking on your cell phone while driving

9. Parking Logistics Remember your truck is a rolling advertisement for Alsco. Don’t let your advertisement be a nuisance for our customers or traffic.
When parking, always think about the customer's perspective and about safety:
Park on the customer's premises in a spot that does not impede traffic in or out of their facility
If a spot has been designated by the customer for vendor parking (loading zone), always observe the rules
Avoid parking in such a way that requires backing out to leave;  either back in or pull along the side of the building into a position that allows you to simply leave in a forward direction
Always park in a legal spot (not next to a fire hydrant!) and on a hard surface (never in the customer's grass)
