In addition to descript the image, sometimes, user has to change a number of different keywords to search. The traditional text searching mode has been unable to meet the needs of the Internet users. In this context, a new searching mode “Search by Image” formed gradually. In July 2011, Google launched “Google Image Search” based on the technology of search by image. The official advertisement introduces the simple function of Google image search. Users can use the image whether is from the web or your last vacation. It can search places, art and even mysterious creatures with just one picture. The result of searching will show the point to explore, examine and discover. Part 2 Technological Affordances How to use it This official video introduces how to use it to do the search. It introduces how to get into the website and the ways to add images. On the result page, Google will try to find the original image. It will also lists some roughly similar pictures with the website. The video also introduces how to use search tools to check the authenticity of the image through the time and place. Part 3 User Experiences For artists
For artists, use Google image search to check is there have anyone uses their artwork without their permission is convenient. Anne upload her artwork to Google to search where her artwork shows up on the internet. There are two reasons for Anne to do this. The one reason is to see where people share her artwork. And the other reason is to make sure that no one is steeling her artwork, or any selling on products without her permission. Anne chooses this artwork to do the search, we can see this is a little dog with a red background. The artwork is shared in the social media
Through the link beside her artwork in the result page, Anne found there is someone shared her artwork in the social media. It makes Anne feels very glad. She is happy to know that people love her artwork. They shared it on the awesome website. This can make more and more people know Anne’s artwork. Anne Was Here, (2015). The artwork is selling as a product without her permission
In the process of browsing the result pages, there is a little image jumped out to Anne because she does not sell it anywhere with that wood grain background. Here is a website selling her artwork as a phone cover without her permission. Anne said she will try to find out the company's information and connect with them to protect her ownership.
