At your table your group will create your own government Choose one of the types of government we discussed in class Explain why you chose this government Create a minimum of 5 laws for your new government Why did you think these 5 were important to have? Be prepared to share

How does media influence our view on government?
Most media sources are bias towards one political party Examples: Fox leans conservative NBC leans liberal Some media sources have unreliable information Facebook Wikipedia Media sends out messages they want us to hear not always necessarily the 100% truth

How do you judge if a news source is reliable
How do you judge if a news source is reliable? Discuss your views with your table members and create a list that you can use to check that a news source is reliable. To what extent does the media influence your view of the world? List some of the positive, negative and interesting ways in which the media can or does shape the way you imagine the world. Write a definition of the 'media'. Ensure that your definition includes what it is, the forms it takes, and its purposes, reach, content and influence. Does satire count as news media? Consider whether you would modify your definition to include satire?

Authoritarian People do not always have opportunities for their voices to be heard Opposing the government and government decisions have consequences Revolution! People attempt to overthrow the government because it is not treating them well
