Ignoring God’s Truth Within Us
June 16, 2016 Christian Education
2
Hypocrisy The practice of claiming to have moral standards or beliefs to which one's own behavior does not conform; pretense. A hypocrite is someone who not only does not practice what one preaches, but a person who does the opposite of what one preaches
3
Steph Curry: “First and foremost I have to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for blessing me with the talents to play this game, with the family to support me, day in, day out. I’m his humble servant right now and I can’t say enough how important my faith is to who I am and how I play the game”
4
Steph, living out his faith
Stephen Curry was just awarded the NBA Most Valuable Player award this week after beating Lebron James and the Cavaliers, and his acceptance speech was not without the thankfulness and an evident vibe of humility. Out of all the hypocrisy and corruption within the NBA, we love seeing such a pivotal movement toward family values and strong Christian faith.
5
Earlier this year, Curry launched a shoe with Under Armor that featured a rephrase to his favorite bible verse: Philippians 4:13 – I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me
6
Its no wonder why Steph has gained such a prominent part of the league.
Apart from his outstanding talent, his willingness to serve, and push to be a man of God he has proved to make fantastic strides in his careers

TRUE FAITH STARTS IN THE HEART AND IS LIVED OUT IN WORD AND ACTIONS
TRUE FAITH STARTS IN THE HEART AND IS LIVED OUT IN WORD AND ACTIONS! “I am not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ….”

True Christianity is a lifestyle.
True Christians do not hide their light under a bushel. A true Christian’s witness is not controlled by where they are, who they are with, or circumstances. A true Christian is known by their attitude, attire, and actions. All three must glorify God at all times.
9
True Christians will sin at some point in time
True Christians will sin at some point in time. When this happens, do not let the Devil intimidate you by tell you God won’t forgive you. ‘Get up, ‘fess up, straighten up, and keep going. For the Child of God sin is an exception and not the rule. I John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, He (Jesus) is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10
Six times New Testament writers stress that sincerity
(without hypocrisy, anupokritos) should characterize the Christian. Christian love Romans 12:9 2 Corinthians 6:6 1 Peter 1:22 Christian faith 1 Timothy 1:5 2 Timothy 1:5 and wisdom should be sincere James 3:17
11
The devastation of hypocrisy
1. Hypocrisy deceives the hypocrite James 1:22, “Be ye doers of the word and not hearers only deceiving your own selves” 2. Hypocrisy hurts the sinner Isaiah 52:5 “For the name of God is blasphemed among the gentiles because of you…” 3. Hypocrisy dishonors God Romans 2:23 “You who boast in the Law, through your breaking the Law, you dishonor God.”

How to walk the walk and talk the talk
Pray daily. Ask God to reveal all secret sins. Practice humility. Put no confidence in the flesh. Read and meditate daily on the Word. Do what the word says do.
