Attending Any Accredited Utah College, University, or LDS College or University Possible to Defer for Mission or Military Service

Application Financial Need Data Transcript with GPA & ACT Score
College or University of Choice Two Letters of Recommendation Letter about their Service, Leadership, and Financial Need

Two Scholarship Categories
Financial Need: Financial Need % Academic Standing 20% Leadership/Activities 20% Community Service: Financial Need 35% Leadership/Activities 45%

Guide for Grading Scale
Fin Need Score Academic ACT Leadership < $30k 5 > 3.9 > 26 3 points for community service/church service, another point for leadership experience, and another point for extracurricular such as drama/music/sports/etc. (most subjective category) $30k - $50k 4 $50k - $70k 3 $70k - $90k 2 > $90k 1 < 3.5 Adjusted based on financial need letters 0.5 additional for > 26 ACT

Process December – Initiate Contact with High schools
December Through March – Promote in High Schools, Applications Received April – Evaluate Applications for Distinguished Utahan Event Recipient (Top Honor) April – Distinguished Utahan Event Fundraiser April Through May – Rank Scholarship Recipients Determine Awards May Through June – Notify Students of Award or Not Awarded July – Process Payment of Scholarships to Colleges and Universities August - Field Questions from Schools and Recipients September – Golf Tournament Fundraiser October through November – Update Applications, Rubric, Contact Information
